How long until "grassy" smell goes away?

I harvested at day 57 after 7 day flush, it seems early but Trichs were 80% cloudy 20% amber. I wet trimmed and hung dried for a week, RH was between 50-55% Temps between 60-70 degrees F.

When I was trimming the chlorophyll aroma was so strong that it gave me a headache. When I put them into jars they still had some grassy smell to them but not too much, but when I burped the jars for the first time the grass smell was stronger. I took them out of the jar to inspect for mold, but they were fine so i put them back in after an hour.

Is this normal? I've read grassy smell is normal but if it doesn't go away after a few days then it will never go away?! is this true? I'm starting to worry because this is my first grow and my wife is going to talk so much shit if I fuck it up...

It goes away when jarred for a couple of weeks. I had the same grassy smell but it went away completely and was left with some nice smelling weed.

You harvested early or messed something up during the end of the grow only time I have that grassy smell is if i fucked up. I'm guessing the buds aren't very dense?

your rh was pretty low while drying, how many days did it take to get to the jar stage? if it doesn't take a minimum of 5 days, its too fast. 7-10 days is better. chlorophyll, sugars, and carbs need to break down, and it needs to be at least 65% rh for that to keep happening. i like it to be just under 70% when i jar it, then for the first couple of days i dump it out for an hour at a time, rejar it for 3 or 4 hours, dump it back out for an hour. after a couple of days of that you can go to burping once a day till it gets down to 65%, then you can pretty much leave them sealed up ina cool dark place, and they'll keep getting better

If the grassy smell doesn't go away, chalk it up to experience. The most likely reason is it's possible you harvested too early. Don't bother checking your trichs until all the fat, white hairs have receded.

Just my 2 cents....

Never wet trim when your leaves are still green. The broken chlorophyll will ooze to your buds and everywhere thus the grassy smell is everywhere. In essence you just bathe your nugs in some chlorophyll juice. Aside from the grassy smell it's also toxic to us humans (harsher smoke at best). Trim the leaves when the chlorophyll have naturally evaporated.

If you really have to wet trim then leach, flush, or do what you have to do to destroy the chlorophyll before harvesting.

I ruined a batch with the really bad hay smell so I threw it in a turkey bag and just forgot about it. Several months later i ran across it. While it wasn't great it was actually useable.
Your mileage may vary.

Try dry trimming in the future. It seems to work better for me.
Iwet trimmed for years because I thought it was easier due to the perky leaves, i assumed dry the trichs would crumble.

Long story short, i trim dry now because it slows the dry time,
Also i was wrong about my concerns.
The leaf wraps the bud protecting the trichs.

Also my dry trimmed looks just as nice as wet
