I've been running hempies for a few years now. I'll be glad to offer advice (no promises) but I need to know more about your setup. Home depot sells food grade white 5 gallon buckets. They're about $5 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leaktite-5-gal-70mil-Food-Safe-Bucket-White-005GFSWH020/300197644. I suggest you get some for your next grow.
If you're using perlite, you probably have the super dusty small stuff. See if you can get some the big chunk type https://www.amazon.com/Fox-Farm-FX14044-4-Cubic-FoxFarm/dp/B003H7IY38 to use as a medium. You can probably find better pricing if you look.
For a 5 gallon bucket, drill your drain hole about 2 1/2" up from the bottom. I use 1/2 inch pvc to make small 90 degree drain pipe so I drain from the bottom rather than the new nutes coming in. PM me if you want specifics.
I have a 55 gallon drum I use to condition town water for a couple of days before I use it. In a separate container I usually mix up about 35 gallons of nutrients at a time. Just stir it up real well before you feed (electric drill with a plaster mixer). You'll need to do a little plumbing to work a system like this but it makes life a lot easier.
The 90 degree pvc tweak is a killer idea - seems like a perfect way to ensure you keep the res fresh - smart. Would love to see your set up

Nice bro... starting my first grow in January after I come back home from vacation, I have basically made a list of everything I need... I have everything covered to my understanding, today I will be going to my local flower shop to see what I could buy there that I won’t have to order online.... but I was planning either 9 3g buckets or 5 5g buckets in a 4x4 grow tent, with hlg 600 rspec, all perlite hempy, and for nutes I was thinking jack321 5-12-26, calnit, epsom, humic acid and silica... thinking of starting with zkittles from ilgm, trying to get most yield possible, aiming for a lb... this will be an intense learning experience lol

Hempy rocks. Only the grower themself can really complicate it.

I water every day though, getting a nice jet coming out my drains. Letting it go two days is just asking for trouble. I've even seen burnt tips from one day. I just make it a habit to do it every night.
