Here are the two I'm growing right now. 3rd week of flower. I cut them around the 5th node, and then trimmed out the bottom couple. Once the branches started to grow out and develop, I used wire to flatten them out like spokes from the center stem, so they were pretty even. Once the nodes on the branches started to grow vertically I culled out some and left others trying to keep things spread evenly. I kind of hate dealing with 'tie downs' so once they were big enough I dropped a net on them and used that to move the developing colas where I wanted to keep things spread. Once the flowers start getting heavy, I have another matching net to hang to keep the colas from bending and falling over.

I'm slowly doing some 'cleaning out' of the stuff that's way down below that's not getting any light. But what I'm looking for is the height to stay uniform and the plants to remain wide. These are Sativas, so with limited headroom I'm keeping them short, though they'll probably stretch for another handful of days.
