Gutter Vert Grow

For the longest time it was how to get the most efficient use of a 1000 watt single ended bulb, our idea is to hang it with three level stadium tiers. Small indica type heavy hitting clone only cultivars are the menu of choice. My mind went to the 5” gutter from HD and here is what I have designed so far. Next is LED in which opens new possibilities ✅

Okay, the mixed used is a semi organic blend of 4 parts sunshine #4 to 1 part organic costco bagged soil (in BC), one bag #4 and half bag organic blend per four lights. AN3 part, voodoo juice, rhino skin, big bud, massive and a little of this and little of that. Water feed water feed, no holes is the gutter makes less mess and they thrive. Ten day to two week veg / 9-10 week flower, straight water from week seven makes nice white ash. I’ve done many methods of water delivery from hand to emitters to blumats and now to try hydro, each method works and has purpose. The air flow to circulate through the isle makes for great breathability without a thrashing on the foliage. top Row has a single string line to hold the top row, bottom two rows have plant clips that hook the stem to the gutter behind.

Warm winter is right, crazy warm. Forgot to mention in the veg cycle in each room only half the lights are on for 12 hrs then the next 12 hrs those lights go off and the others come on, and onwards for 24 hrs veg with power savings. The ticket with the little amount of soil is when it’s spread out in the gutter it’s really easy to control and manage, as the roots like air just as much as water, a happy balance. Change overs are easy as it all comes out in one big log and no residue to worry about cleaning out. Another note is the plant roots like to be able to grow outward and mingle with there neighbours helping each other vs in a round pot by pot setting. I’ve been designing this style for almost twenty years now, the challenge and innovation is what I love.

As for bulbs, in the beginning the sylvania was the bulb of choice, cheap to be able to change out every three runs but now they don’t seem the same. Then tried GE and they work but the glass housing discolours and look to be dimming the bulb, so now ultimately going with a tax in 36 buck philips is the choice for right now. If money was no issue it would be hortilux

Cool rack.. Did you fab that up yourself or is that attainable? How often do you have to feed and do you get runoff to deal with?

Thanks man, the stand is my creation that I’ve designed and refined built a punch press to stamp out the tubes. Designed it in the cheapest way possible and have something I’m happy with. I am a A ticket welder / fabricator but my real passion is the plant. The feeding schedule is a once a day or every other day, water feed water feed, there is no holes so no run-off. The plants get exactly what they need then as long as they dry out enough, dialling in what to give on the daily is no hard. With blumats and an organic mix I left the garden on vacation for two weeks, came back and all was good. I’ve tried different spacing in between plants and 12-15” is the sweet spot.
