Growing on the equator in rainy season?

I would like to start a grow on the equator where the days are 12/12 all year round. The problem is rainy season starts in 3 months so what I ever I grow now will finish in rainy season, my question is would I need to grow a pure sativa like Malawi or Neville's haze etc or would a sativa dominant plant be ok, I plan to top it multiple times to produce lots of pop corn buds to try reduce the mould. Any help is appreciated

Try to get some local genetics that do good in the area. Definitely look for mold resistance. Most sativas are better off but I've grown some sativa hybrids that are very weak to mold. So there's more to it than just Indica vs Sativa. Some Sativas were bred in wetter conditions. African Sativas are mostly not as mold resistant as Sativas from the Americas and SE Asia. Good luck and hopefully you picked the right time to plant. I'd also check when other farmers are planting their seeds... you might have more time to gather genetics.

I know this thread is old but Hawaiian genetics are great in wet conditions that could cause mold-hawaii has high humidity so they have adapted

As others have mentioned, for sure you want a mold resistant strain. I know that Durban poison is a good candidate. You could search google for other "mold resistant cannabis strains", I am sure there are probably some lists out there.

You may choose to put a make shift plastic green house cover over them when it's really rainy, but the humidity will still be high at least they wouldn't be constantly hit by rain.
