I'm going to be posting this info to my journal but it seems relevant here...
Disclaimer: I've been growing for a year...which means I know fuck-all about growing and JUST enough to be dangerous to anyone I give advice to
so...no comment on 'how' to grow your plants.
Now, I got my first 2 plants in March 2013 and it took me a LONG time to get set up. I didn't get my first run of plants started flowering till August. If one has "the right gear" to start with I'm sure you won't have to suffer the trials & tribulations I have...and I am STILL not 'there' yet...
"an ounce per week"...how do I count the ways...
My goals are pretty simple. 2oz per plant from my Sativas and 1oz per plant from my Indicas. 2 harvests of 2 plants each, per month. I've refined my schedule for a focus on the sativas with runs of indicas scheduled in around them...everything is now done in pairs based on an 8 week flowering schedule. This works out to 6-8 plants in bud at any given time...assuming I've done everything right
On the veg side, clones are rooted in sets of 8 [one cycle] and kept in a low-light state until I am ready to 'super-veg' them, which is done in pairs of course. I'll select 2 same-size/strain plants and put them under the T5, rotating as plants harvest. This is where I've still got schedule problems...keeping the bud/veg plants rotating at the same time...[but I had shit for veg light until recently]
I love the numbers...it's one of the reason I'm doing it the way I am. Sorry if this seems a bit 'odd' to track all this info
My first run of 8 was the prototype, setting a baseline. I had my goal set, but how close would I get, I had no idea. MANY extenuating circumstances came in to play during that first run...and the second, which really took a hit due to transition during upgrading...my third run is almost like starting over but promises to be the best yet...we'll see.
Anyways...here's the yield data from my first 2 runs...8 and 7 plants respectively. Spanning the last 17 weeks [Nov-March] just over 20oz was harvested...nothing spectacular. I certainly wasn't harvesting on a regular schedule and achieving my yield estimates has been sketchy at best, but....20oz divided by 17 weeks = 1.1oz per week...as an aside, costs average $1.17 to 1.20 per gram and will drop during the summer.
With all the upgrading I was doing I took some time to redesign my tracking program for the next run, the 2nd run is included at the top of this list as I was still tracking those plants when I redesigned it. Here are my upcoming yield estimates. All of these plants are currently either in veg or bud. the 2nd set of BB's is gone...yields were 21g each...loooooowww.
I'm due for more clones for the next run already!!
This is one of the reasons I wanted a continuous grow...
I'm certainly not bragging here, I just thought I'd provide some hard data on the subjective nature of yield estimates, yields in general and how you can go about it many different ways, manipulate the math and claim an ounce per week. I can tell by the reflection in the bottom of my stash can that I am not producing an ounce per week.
