hello all, just curious if a 1000w mh/hps light would work in my closet with the dimensions of 6.5 feet tall 5 feet across and 3 feet wide? would it get too hot? trying to figure that out before i continue with this location or if i need to find a more suitable location. any help or advice would be much appreciated!

That is a lot of wattage in a tiny space. I'm guessing 400W is about the biggest bulb I would use in that space.
Anything hotter than that would require constant ventilation and that is usually more trouble than it's worth.
A. Can you trade down for a smaller bulb?
B. Have access to a larger room?
C. Do a trade - you supply the light and your buddy grows with his juice and you split.

I may be able to move into a bigger location. Just gotta talk to roomie (sure he won't mind once he realizes the outcome haha). What size area would be suitable and efficient for a 1000w mh/hps? Would it be an open air kind of thing (like middle of a room) or does it need to be enclosed (like a bigger closet or a grow box)? If worse comes to worst I could probly downgrade to 600w instead.

I think 1000w is too much, gonna be too hard to cool...plus with only 6.5 feet your gonna get some light burn. You might be surprised what a closet can produce with a 400/600w and a nice hood.
If you can move the 1000w into a bedroom, your golden. Get a 400/600 or t5 and veg in the closet, bloom in the bedroom. Much easier to keep temps down, and your budding 24/7. Sleep in the living room if you have to...priorities bro.
