U have it exactly backwards ... which is UR pattern son.

I'm right before I post. I've done the research about everything I post about (in politics anyway). I'll wager I read far more material per week than you do. I'll wager I also SPEND more on getting quality information than you do.

See how we part company? It's gradual, but continual.

I don't pull my info from the web.

Why should ppl change their opinions? Think things through BEFORE you post in the political threads. Instead of running the emotion, run the numbers. Knowing the truth, even if it's cold and uncomfortable, is worth having over the alternative.

Anyone can have principles, but standing by them is tricky for most ppl.

But first, you must make sure your principles are grounded in real truth, and not just pie in the sky "I wanna" truth, wouldn't it be kewl if ... stuff.

But the old "This winter is warm, this one is cold" is garbage. You cannot stick your finger in the air and come up with a climate model. There is a lot of math that is involved and most of the actual data that we can trust is new (because of new technologies) Eventually we will have a much better grasp of everything, but not by sticking our heads in the dirt and saying there is no such thing..
this has to be a joke right?

here is a global warming "enthusiast"

the reason global warming is happening is why its so cold, and hot, and raining, and snowing, and we have droughts, and hurricanes, and tornadoes, and blah blah blah.

every bit of weather we have is due to global warming so just hand over your money and your freedom so the govt can fix it...just like they are fixing the economy.

I love how you shamelessly embrace your arrogance. You should abandon your devotion to internet life and enter academia with real people - you'd fit right in.

Arrogance - check. False sense of omniscience - check. Hubris - check. elitist - check. Constantly compensating - check. Flaunting of wealthy lifestyle - check. :fire:

"Wrong that still belongs to the intelligent design people.

This is more like a doctor telling you that you need to loose weight, but you don't. And they tell you that you can get a heart attack, but still you don't care, so you continue, and now you need a knee replacement.

But now you say that the doctor doesn't know shit, see I only need a knee and you said I need a heart, your a dumbass.

But hey I guess if you want to not be open to shit that we may be doing to the planet it is up to you. It really doesn't matter, because we are not a species that like to change from things we do before disaster strikes, we like to ride it to the end, then come up with something new to survive."

Anyone who believes that correct information can be bought is sadly wrong. If it werent then I can afford all the best info in the world, as a capitalist you would be willing to sell it to me then? No? Thought not...
More of the world is suffering from increased temperature than is suffering from decreased. The trend is there to be seen, if you choose to wear blinkers you may not spot it though...

I think that deciding that something is not right because you were told that it is not by some people that have a entertainment 'news' show is a joke.

The scientists as a whole are not out on some agenda to steal your money. As our technology improves and we can find more data things do change. But people that think that because they choose not to believe something like climate change is happening due to human activity, that nothing should be done is crap.

I mean complex computer modeling that is now used in science is still pretty damn new. How can we not change what we understand about the world as we learn more about this planet we live on.

All that can be done is to make coorelations about things like the different % of chemicals in the air and measure them against something in the past that are gotten from different type of samples. And if you can see a volcano tossing tons of ash into the air is harmful, why not a million factories tossing up huge amounts of pollution? Have you never driven by a factory that is so smoggy you can hardly breath?

But hey what does it matter, you are not a scientist and either am I. It is not like people are going to come here and ask for our opinions.

ps people make me laugh that bring 'our freedoms' into a talk about climate change. You can smoke a cigar while plowing over bambi in a hummer while tossing your fast food container out the window, and maybe you will get a fine if you are caught. You can still do anything that you could before, but maybe now if it costs someone else to clean up your mess you may have to pay for it a little more.

Global Warming is a red herring, to distract people from the real issues of pollution facing the Globe.
See Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone
or landfills filled with non biodegradable materials.
Deforestation.
Urban Sprawl.
Higher cancer rates for people living near or working on petroleum refinerys
nuclear waste being buried in Nevada
pharmaceutical medications being present in most fresh water including underground reservoirs and even the water supplys of most major cities.

and so on

I'm not sure where I stand in regards to global warming, but I am an enthusiast of humble responsibility towards our habitat. To get to the point, I was recently reading an article (which I did NOT have to pay for) which explained, in detail, what happened to barrels of spent radiation (in the sense that the gov. no longer wanted/needed it). During a two year period, they gave 1,000's of barrels to the navy so they could take it offshore and use it as target practice. It's a fact, look it up (and I won't charge for that information).

Here's a powerpoint, found on the internet, which explains how we, the great U.S. of A. acts in a hubristic and unnecessary manner in regard to the environment. This type of behavior must stop.

I watched a NetGeo show last night about the greatest extinction (96% of all marine species and 70% of vertebrates) about 250 million years ago. the extinction that wiped out the dinasours was 65 million years ago, and was small in comparison.

scientists theorized that global temps increased about 9 degrees celsius, resulting in weather that wiped the globe clean of life. science has attributed 4-5 degrees temp increase to an impact event, or massive volcanoes, or both. the cause of the remaining 4-5 degree increase couldn't be accounted for. until geologists discovered evidence in rocks of huge amounts of methane gas.

it was enough methane to account for the remaining temperature increase at the end of the Permian period. the ocean stores methane gas in a compressed state under the ocean floor. as the ocean temperatures increase, the methane is released. this is the same phenomenon attributed to some of the mystery surrounding the Bermuda Triangle.

climatologists have been espousing this theory in recent times in conjunction with the cascading effects of climate change. so for what its worth, i wouldn't worry so much about the snow in England or the upper midwest. climate change doesn't mean global warming everywhere. it means nasty weather changes everywhere - some places get colder, some get warmer, storms get stronger, fertile land becomes desert and people starve. that is the possibility, and just because you're a fat cat sitting on top of a pile of cash, opposing change, doesn't mean change won't come.

but it won't come for a while, so for those of you who don't even want to explore the possibilities with a bit of reverence for the planet, it doesn't matter.
