Flowering Plant Maintenance

Okay. Should I look to prune the healthy Fan leaves? I'm thinking if they aren't there more nutrients will flow to the nugs. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for the help and advice.

makes no difference if you put your mothers and autos together, as long a s the autos are getting enough light.
pruning is a subject with a lot of opinions. i do a light pruning, some people go a lot heavier, some people hate the idea. the best i can tell you is to grow to seeds out of the same pack, prune one, don't prune the other, and make up your own mind.

you're wrong, the reason you want to prune is to get direct light on your buds. leaves feed buds, that's why i only do a light pruning. there are plenty of nutrients in the plant available to the buds when they want it. if you take off all the bigger leaves, you'll slow down growth a lot.

Roger,

Thanks for the information!! I'm glad I asked here before doing anything. I will probably just leave them alone to grow as they please. Thanks again for the insight.

Also, how tall normally should they be before they start flowering?

depends on the strain, sativa heavy plants grow pretty tall, the more indica they express the shorter they'll be.
also depends on how you train them, and how much room you have to flower in. a good rule of thumb is to expect them to double in size, and have room for them to triple in size.
i usually let mine get between 18 and 24 inches high, then put them in flower. they'll usually end up between 3 to 5 feet, before you supercrop and lst them.

i do my lollipopping about two weeks before i switch to flower, then i do a light pruning when the buds have formed up good, maybe 30% of the total leaf cover. i pick the ones in particular that are blocking light and growing in toward the center of the plant. about a month after that, i might remove 10-20% again, as they grow back and block the same spots.
i used to never do it, was finally talked into trying it, and it seems to work to me. i'm getting noticeably more yield, and nicer looking buds. and that's my results only. try it, and if you don't like it, don't do it.
