its probably just the genetics man Nirvana's NL are pretty cheap compared to others i got mine from Sensi which were like $140 for 10... still i haven't heard anything about a tendency for them to rot? all i know is its one of the easiest plants to grow for some decent bud and good yield.. and what was that random post about adding lumens??

Yea, I have no idea where the adding lumens post came from.. I've had barely any odor from these plants, but I do notice a hint of a lemony sweet smell.

yeah that was really random i went back and couldnt find what he was talking about haha my NL had more of a smell a few weeks ago (apparantly thats normal) but still its a very low odor plant not that its much of a concern to me since my other plants will probably reek during flower haha

My buds are beginning to bend the branches I don't know how it would be possible to stake the branches.. Maybe get some string and tie the branch to the main stem.. I might try that..

Well, the other smaller one looks like it's a hermie might have to chop that one I dunno. They're pollen bananas so that might not really be hermie but stress related I don't think it's that stressful in there but maybe :\

Or should I use these bananas to pollinate a lower branch on my other female? I've heard this creates feminized seeds.

i got a hermie outta mine,,, i don't know i didn't think i stressed em but now i think it might be from light leakages. the thing is my two diesels aren't hermie, but my two choc. thai are..so i don't know if they've just got weaker genetics or what. and they're almost all fem, barely any male aspects, its just that since this is my first grow i didn't know what to look for until it was too late, so now i'm gonna get like 100 choc. thai seeds and maybe 10 diesel/choc. thai hybrids. oh yea i also have a blueberry that got completely pollinated so i have choc.thai/blueberry hybrid. lookin forward to seein what they look like, still pissed i'm losin weight to seeds tho

Here's part of an article about the bananas I'm seeing.. they're not like ball sacs really, but they are yellow bananas.

I named this new method “Rodelization” after a friend who helped me realize and make use of this way of creating female seeds. After growing crop after crop of the same plant in the same conditions, I noticed that if I flowered the plants 10-14 days longer than usual, they would develop male “bananas”. A male banana is a very slight male flower on a female marijuana plant that is formed because of stress. Usually they do not let out any pollen early enough to make seeds, but they sometimes do. They are a built in safety factor so in case of sever conditions, the plant can make sure that the species is furthered.

To me a male banana is quite a beautiful thing. It has the potential of making all female seeds. Many growers out there have male banana phobia. They see one and have heart palpitations, they want to cut down the entire crop or at least take tweezers and pluck the little yellow emerging devices out. I call them “Emergency Devices” because they emerge at times of stress.

In the Rodelization method, the male banana is very valuable. After growing your female plant 10-14 days longer than usual, hang them up to dry, then carefully take them off the drying lines and inspect for bananas. Each and every banana should be removed and placed in a small bag labeled very accurately. These sealed bags can be placed in the fridge for one to two months and still remain potent.

For the second phase you need to already have a crop that’s already 2 ½ weeks into flowering. Take your sealed bag of pollen out of the fridge, and proceed to impregnate your new crop of females. To do this, you must first match the female plant and the pollen from the same strain in the previous crop. Shut down all the fans in the grow room. Then take a very fine paint brush, dip it in the bag of pollen, and paint it on the female flower. Do this to each different strain you have growing together. I have done it with ten different kinds in the same room with great success.

Anyway I'm trying not to worry about yield this time around, this was for experience.. Funny how my best plant was the first seed I planted. The others were males.. and the other female I got is making these bananas and barely any bud whatsoever. Nirvana seeds aren't doing to well for me some not sprouting, one really screwed up sprout that wouldn't grow, and one female that doesn't really produce bud lol Could be all my fault though, I'll know when I try some other genetics.

Oh well I chopped down the hermie wasn't doing much at all anyway was making things hard to manage, creating more pollen bananas, and making it hard for me to give my other plant with REAL buds light, so I think I was just in cutting it down. RIP.

Anyway my harvest will be strictly from one plant.. Better luck next time I suppose :\ I feel like blaming Nirvana but it was probably just bad luck. Going to get myself some feminized auto AK47 for the next one, i don't want to screw around with males, and I want a quicker harvest, then I think I might go back to regular strains depends.. I don't think I'm buying regular seeds anymore, it's not worth the hassle unless I want to breed. Can't wait for the day I get a house so I can setup separate veg/flower and mother areas. Clones are obviously the way to go if you can go that way.

Flowering has not been a fun experience for me lol

Anyway 2-3wks left of this grow.. then I'm moving on to the next.

My remaining plant is looking good though so I'm happy about that..

On further inspection of the buds on the other plant i'm glad I chopped it tons of pollen things were forming, but not yet dropping pollen.. Not sure if there was risk of pollination of my other plant this late in flowering, but the buds it would produce wouldn't be worth it anyway.

This has been argued many times. Lumens do not add. Therefore, if you have a CFL that is 10,000 lumens and you got 10 more CFL's of the same type and put them all in a room the total lumen output would still be 10,000.

Granted, you could spread 10,000 lumens over a much greater area because you have all those lights but no matter what you do the room is not going to have 11,000 lumens in any one area.

Now, a 400W HPS puts out over 50,000 lumens at its source.

The benefit of extra lumens is heavier bud weight and larger plants. You can still grow and flower with CFL's but the buds will be light and fluffy.
If lumens do not add then why on the box of a Sun Blaze 4 bulb 24 inch T5 fixture does it say "puts out 8000 lumens"? Each bulb puts out 2000 lumens.

my 4 tube t5 fixture is advertised as 20,000 lumens on the box. Are you saying that 1 t5 is just as bright as 4? Im only using 1 bulb now but when all 4 are in there it gets real bright.

I will be posting pictures soon, not much really going on other than I'm having a hard time managing the buds.. they're so heavy now that I think one has actually snapped its branch :( Supporting them is difficult even with string and the stake. I'm glad there's only about 2wks left, this plant is having all sorts of trouble supporting itself.

haha yea that happened to me, ended up getting an early eighth just dried it and smoked it (well part of it, before my roommate got to it, and it was gone within an hour of that happening) there are worse things to worry about than having buds that are 'too heavy'!

alright or you could go the negative route. i LST'd the shit outta one of mine and ended up having to use a tomato cage

haha im just saying thats what happened to my first plant all the braches fell over not like they were massive buds or anything...

Anyway this is what it looks like, sorry I didn't get to it sooner. I've been kind of busy.. Most of those buds are being held up by plastic ties or string + the main stem is being supported by the post. The one bud I thought snapped off didn't snap completely luckily and the plant looks to have been working at repairing that area.. I'd say another week or so left.. It will probably take 9wks.

The largest bud isn't pictured, I have it actually resting on a few things piled up so it's closer to the light, no matter what I tried it made the plant unstable, so I did that. All of the lower leaves fell off, and now it looks like it's beginning to yellow the upper leaves so it's getting close. Just giving it water now.
