Ever wonder what the soil temp is?

So the other day I was letting my girls take in the full rays of the most efficient plant stimulator. As they were sitting there I thought what is the temp of the soil near the middle of my 1 and 3 gallon pots. They are both medicine man and the 1 gallon plant hasn't show sign of being a girl or guy. The 3 gallon girl has been fimmed and trimmed. So I got my compost thermometer and checked it out. As you can see in the pics the 1 gallon temp was 108 degrees and the 3 gallon girl was 100 degrees. I have another bagseed girl in a 1 gallon pot and her temp was 120 degrees. All of them are healthy and happy. Kinda cool that the roots and plant can handle those kind of soil temps. Have a great day dudes!!!

cerventis, does a thread on you tube about it,you really need to keep the soil temp down,In the uk we dont have to worry about heat of soil we don't have the sun, lol. But you may find the post he does on you tube interesting, its the long one he does over a hour long very interesting,

I really don't think black pot's are the answer black is well known for soaking heat in,i would go with something white,or even better get them in a sunken pot, straw is a great barrier,to lay around the top of the soil, even against the sides of the pots, but if we had the weather you have in the states i go with below ground grows, still in pots so your nutrients are not been wasted, and your only feeding the plant but i would have them below soil level, sunken smart pots

Hey tyke, I will check out his youtube video for sure. The 3 gallon girl is kinda an extra, and I didn't have anymore 5 or 6 gallon pots left for her. My other 9 plants are in 5 and 6 gallon pots that are buried in the ground. I'm a canuck living in the Great White North eh!!! The girls are awaiting some sunny days to explode with growth as the sun has been hiding behind the rain clouds for the last few days. I was truly amazed that the plants in those hot soils could look so happy!!

Paint the pots white and be surprised at how much cooler they'll run!
Another is to simply dig a hole to drop the pot into during it's outdoor vacations!
This is what I do and it's nice cause I can move them to other holes around the edge of the yard and get different sun pattern\exposure.....
