Just checked my first attempt. Compost waterlogged, root brown and rotten and no green growth. Painful lesson learnt. Fellow noobs, dont rush into growing and dont "make do" with whatever is lying around. There is tonnes of good advice here on rollitup; advice i wish id taken. Makes sure you listen and give your lady the best start in life, otherwise you like me will be gutted and out of pocket.

Munching humble pie...

Thanks IC3M4L3. I hit the ground running and only ended up with bitter disapointment. Slow down and do it properly. Harsh learning curve but a valuable one!

Well at least you won't make that mistake again. The best way to learn is through experience.

The easiest way to determine if your plants need watering is to stick your finger 1 inch into the soil, if its feels dry 1 inch down then it needs a watering. You can also lift the plant and feel the weight, theres a massive difference between a watered plant and a plant that needs watering.

Goodluck with your next grow buddy

i like the sentiment but it does sound like an aggravated pro trying to make a point with a dummy account

not that i would mind! :P still, in the likely outcome that you are genuine, grats on making a big step. i think most of the people who don't make this step are the people who don't smoke it, and just want some quick cash for booze or something

Nice one Kush2180. Gonna start from scratch. New pots, growing media and less H2O lol. In a few months im planning to invest in a pc box grow. Ive read they are good for SOG and SCROG on a small scale. Can you recommend any varieties that are suited to this growing style? An indica i suppose as they mostly grow shorter?? Top tip about how to check the need for watering, many thanks

Thank you monkeybones for the compliment. Wishing i was a pro and thinking it maybe but defo genuine noob. Know people who have grown, wanted some ladies of my own but never had opportunity to start until now.

My interest in this is purely selfish. Been a toker for 18yrs and a grower for just over a week  I have absolutely no desire to make money on this. I lived in the Netherlands for a year when i was younger; and my eyes were opened to some of the fantastic flavours this lady has to offer. Im fed up of getting the same underweight, speed dried and uncured stock weed time and time again from d's. I want to awaken the pallet again. Any plant that can taste of bubblegum when you smoke it is alright in my book!

I know im not gonna get it right first few times but i cant wait for the time that i do; White Widow x Afghan Kush, im coming for ya.

Monkeybones have you got any strain recommendations for a SOG or SCROG pc box grow i have planned in a few months time please? Nice meeting you, peace
