now compare that to politicians that have had years and years of time in congress. What the fuck have they done ?? Experience does not mean fucking results in politics. We need new voices that care and speak for the people. Not some 25 year career politician who gets nothing done due to "playing the game " and falling to lobbyist bullshit. Give me the fresh faces with new ideas I can agree with...AOC is that.
Washington is broke as fuck and needs to be fixed. Keeping the status quo will not get you shit. I bet you and I could get more done then the fuck faces we have now, but we would be fighting for the people...and the people like that. Don't help the status quo keep the status quo.

i'm not really talking about her, i'm talking about political realities, it can apply to anyone who has just gotten into office.
the "establishment" sucks...but it exists, and it is "established"...it is entrenched...it has built fortifications and is settled in behind them.
you can undermine those fortifications, you can build alliances and recruit their allies to your cause. then you can lay siege to them, cut them off from retreat, and beat them down till they give in. but if you do not undermine those fortifications, they will crush you. if you do not have allies, they will overwhelm you. if you do not understand the tide of battle, it will wash over you, and you will lose all orientation.
she's doing ok so far...don't expect miracles in minutes

I'm not comparing her to anyone, I'm just saying I want to see what happens over the next year.

The system has a way of squashing the best intentions. There's 434 other people in the house.

I could give you a list of broken dreams and bad outcomes over the past 50 years but is that really necessary?

her allies are the people. including you if you want. but it does start with putting positive around what she does...not negative shit like " wait or you not ready "
Congress Reps only get elected by the people. As long as AOC does right by the people she will do right in the House, but she needs the people to stand with her and not fall for the BULLSHIT the "establishment puts out on her to stop PROGRESS.
Don't carry the water for the establishment. We once had the " establishment " telling us what water fountain to drink out of. Others carried that water message, until the brave started speaking out and the people followed.
I never ever said expect miracles in minutes NEVER.
I said stand behind her message and stop with the negative talk about her being a freshman congress women. Hell do you know what Michael Jordan did his freshman year at UNC ? Being young at what you do don't mean you can't bring about change

I think you are right that liberals, including myself are playing it both ways. We say we like her policies, but. As if there is any risk in showing the status quo that we want change and don't really care about trivial details like her age. Cortez is smart, well spoken and is pushing an agenda that I can agree with.

I like her policies, I want her to succeed. Let the reactionary right talk about her character or age. She's on my side and will have my support.

Cortez's relevance is overstated in order to highlight the hope of overcoming the efforts of the regressive minority. This is not a criticism of her or her policies. In fact I think that most of the people saying that she lacks experience or something like "we'll see" are actually supportive. However, let's not fall in with any "movement" characterized solely by support for one political persona. Those are basically cults.
