Anyone converted a walk in closet. I have some grandiose ideas, just looking for some feelers/ideas. However these huge stealth boxes look bad ace.

Go all the way back to 1989 and my first grow was a closet grow. Had a couple 400 watt HPS lights in there. I cut a sheet of OSB to fit inside the frame where the door goes, popped the door off the hinges and I could stick that board in there and it fit snug. I painted the inside white and left the outside as is. I put a rectangular hole in the top of the board for exhaust and had a larger hole nearer the bottom for a box fan (I know but it's what was available). I grew in that space for about 3 years and had many great harvests and learned a lot. I wouldn't want to do it again though, such a small area it was difficult to work in. I was younger back then and could manage but with my old busted back I wouldn't wanna be in that situation again.

Consider getting a grow tent, they work great and can be tore down and moved easily.

I have a spare bedroom not being used and the closet is 6x8. I currently have a 2.5x2.5 tent with all the amenities. Has three autos in it now. Also have an old chest that I rigged up and have 2 more autos in it. I'd like a larger space for convenience.

I've grown in many less than desirable closets...I use a spare bedroom now...can you not just use the open room does it have to be in the closet...I've noticed since moving outta the closet into the open room the plants get bigger n like having less restrictions

Here's a something something advice on a walk in.

Hang a box fan flat from the ceiling. Blowing up like a ceiling fan. Mixing the hot air with the cool. The only other fan is a rotating floor fan. Worried the box fan won't last? Take it apart and grease the bushings. Use Super Grease®.

Want to prevent wind burn when your fan is close to the plants? Hang a window screen between the plants and the fan. Meaning, pull a screen off a small window. Clamp it to the net brace. Don't let the fan blow directly on the plants. Make sure it blows through the screen first.

Works like a charm. Good growing guys. Peace.

*Sips coffee.

I can use the open room. Wouldn't I just have to build a room inside the room?

Did a walk in closet with 4x4 tray. Worked great. Had to blow air out obviously. If I had to do it over again I would have done a bare bulb with light mover and walls of green on both sides. The light mover is just to keep the buds from burning, does wonders for that.

Grew year round no problem, ran the lights at night.

Woman got the closet now and won't move her stuff out. See how she feel about that when she runs out of weed though.

I ordered lumber and reflective insulation and I already have all necessary equipment. Just going use my gear that came with my grow tent. I measured today it will be 36"x6'x7'.

Your gonna build the room/closet inside the room?...I thought there was already a 6 × 8 closet in there...exhausting the closet is not necessary if your using leds...especially in a 6 × 8 closet...just leave the door open always and stick a box fan at the door...clip fans inside the closet blowing out at the top...that's what I always did...still do actually...I still veg some plants in a closet n move them to open room for flower...unless concealment n smell is a concern then I can understand

Not concerned about smell. My main concern is maintaining heat levels. I live in the country and burn wood in my fire place all winter long. Since its a back bedroom it stays much cooler cause the thermostat doesn't kick on as much. I run a small space heater in my current tent. If If use the whole room I'm afraid I won't be able to maintain adequate heat levels. Smaller environments are easier to regulate.

No I meant just use the closet that's already available in that room?....the lights themselves will be a heat source in the closet and if needed you could also use the space heater...
I was just tryna save you from having to build basically another closet...I guess you could customize what you build to suit your needs...but you can also make the closet work too...with hid lights it would be more difficult but with led your good

after growing for a year in a 4x5 closet im switching to a 4x4 tent.

the closet was cool and all to have the extra height for airflow, and it literally had a built in exhaust vent to outside... but i could only use 5 ft of the height bc of built in shelves anyway. also i live in an old building with gaps under the baseboards (and who knows what in the walls), and chasing bugs away became a pita. i have some 2x3 tents now too and didnt have the same probs w pests that I did in the closet. i was going to seal it all up with panda film but then i decided I would be better off switching back to a tent and just using the closet for storage.

so just for consideration, the prebuilt option might save you some headaches depending on how old your place is.
