Career in growing? PLEASE HELP

Hey there, I have quite a few questions about the marijuana growing business here in SoCal. Bear with me as I am a newbie in this field.

My friends and I want to make growing Marijuana a career (we're all 18). One of my friends included in this goal, is very very rich, and his dad is letting us use his farm as long as everything we grow is legal (state wise). We all have our medical marijuana cards, which in Cali allows us to have 6 mature plants. We have 7 friends including me who are going to put our 6 plants on the farm, so we will have a total of 42 legal plants. We bought a Blackberry Kush clone the other day, and put it under 150w of CFL light, and a small fan, with a bowl of water in the box (the box is lined with foil so it's reflective thought the height of the plant, so the lightbulbs don't only hit the top). How much can we expect for this plant? A pound? It's going to be switched to a bigger box, with reflective plastic rather than foil, and a stronger light sorce (probably HIDs).

Now that you know how far along we are, I have some questions.

We want to treat this as a strict business, so we would go into dispensarys, and ask to become a potential vendor for their clinic, if they ask for a sample, we would happy give it to them. Once we sell the pound of the Blackberry Kush that we got from the clone, we're going to use that money to buy more clones, and some crazy strain seeds that are pretty rare here in SoCal (Maui Wowie, Borderliner, Alaskan Thunder Fuck, etc.). I know that these plants require different light schedules, so for the seeds that we buy we will made sure that they're auto-flowering females, and grow them outdoors.

So we came up with the base price at $3500 a pound regardless of how dank it is, that way we grow a quick relationship with all the dispensarys in SoCal, and eventually supply the delivery clinics as well. We wrote down on paper what to say when we call these dispensaries; so we sound professional and do not studder. We would dress is somewhat business casual. We want to show these guys that were serious about this and that we are not just a bunch of stupid kids who had good luck with a plant.

Now, if we grow a pound per plant, and sell it at $3500, $3500x42=147,000. We owe my friends dad who owns the farm a 90/10 split, he gets 10%(THATS IF WE SELL ALL THE BUD)
$147,000 is a fuck ton of money, so split by 7 would be still a fuck load of money. At that point we would build an actual grow room where we can keep the mother plants in the veg stage so we can clone them.

We have the trimming under control, because many of the kids we knew in highschool (we all just graduated) would trim weed for free as long as we smoke them out.

After awhile we would get the "growers permit" which allows us 99 plants per permit. We already decided that 400 plants is enough, and not to go over that due to the workload. 400x$3,500= 1.4million x 3 yields = 4.2 million, $420,000 would go to the farm owners for the 10% split. We're left with $3.78 million, divide that by 7 and we each get $540,000. After awhile with that money, we would buy another farm, and use more of the 99 plant growing permit, and have 400 at this farm. You get it, we're making a shit load amount of money.

So as you can see, this can become a real business, it would all be under the table yes, and keep it in cash, but it would still be a business.

Now my real question: I'm not trying to to jail here, so I want to keep everything legit and professional, so what I wante to do is create invoices for every pound we sell, so when Marijuana becomes federally legal, we can deposit the money we made into our bank accounts, that way if the government is like wtf, we can say we sold medicine, and we would HAPPILY pay the taxes on the time we grew where it was federally illegal. What's your take on this? Do you have any ideas? Let me know!

We're a super smart kids who took AP classes in highschool and all got 4.0 GPAs, and we smoke weed everyday. We're not lazy at all.

For now when using foil, use the non shinny side. Do a TON of reading on how to grow. Experience will be your best tutor. I don't think you will get a pound from your first plant - It can be done easy outdoors... Indoors - you have a real challange getting that kind of yield. Keep in mind each strain in the world puts out a different yeild amount.

Make your plans/dreams a reality - Go for it man!

Thank you so much man, it means a lot. I did use the shiny side, so I will fix that right now. As for the strain, blackberry Kush is a high-yielding strain, and from what I've read a pound indoors isn't rare. Maybe for my first time I won't get there, but then again maybe I will. Thanks for your help:)

You will not get a pound from a single plant unless you veg for a very long time.

SoCal is so saturated with growers that good luck making this a career without a much heavier initial investment.

We bought a (Meaning single?) Blackberry Kush clone the other day, and put it under 150w of CFL light, and a small fan, with a bowl of water in the box (the box is lined with foil so it's reflective thought the height of the plant, so the lightbulbs don't only hit the top). How much can we expect for this plant? A pound? (No.) It's going to be switched to a bigger box, with reflective plastic rather than foil, and a stronger light sorce (probably HIDs).

Now that you know how far along we are, I have some questions.

seeds that are pretty rare here in SoCal (Maui Wowie, Borderliner, Alaskan Thunder Fuck, etc.). I know that these plants require different light schedules, so for the seeds that we buy we will made sure that they're auto-flowering females, and grow them outdoors. (Where did you read that? Also, autoflowers are a good way to waste your money. They will not (Typically) produce as much as a photoperiod and you only get one plant per seed.)

So we came up with the base price at $3500 a pound regardless of how dank it is, (If it's not dank at all I wouldn't pay anywhere near 3500 a pound. Also, some people in SoCal are growing danker buds and selling it for cheaper.)

We're a super smart kids who took AP classes in highschool and all got 4.0 GPAs, and we smoke weed everyday. We're not lazy at all

I don't even want to continue. You took AP classes, and you guys are what, 18? You're getting way ahead of yourself calculating millions of dollars, even that 147k estimate is out of this world for a not only new growers but 18 year old kids lol.

Growing and selling weed is great, it sounds like a fuck ton of people will know about this operation though which means you will need security. And people tend to get jealous and snitch when you have a good thing going.
Be a little more realistic with your goals and do some more research.

This is coming from a masters in philosophy, take it how you want it. A lot of shit is going to go wrong before shit goes right.

High yielding can be anywhere between 1-5 oz depending on grower skill.

I actually read the whole post, I'm pretty sure most people suffered from TLDR syndrome.

Like the other guy said, chase your dream, but ground it in reality lol. If you pull 16 oz from that plant (A pound) I will literally drive out to socal and shake your hand. A pound is not unusual indoors. A pound PER PLANT is astronomical.

As I said, the growing will be done outdoors after this first plant. I was mid informed by the bud tender at the dispensary where I bought the clone, he said a pound indoor so I went with what he said.

Would it be appropriate to take this plant, and change it to outdoor? It's lift schedule has been 24/0 for 3 days, if I start now, do you think it would survive outdoors? If not, ill just grow it indoors, get a couple ounces, and sell it to some buddies. I am picking up new HID lights within the next week, so when I get the new lights, I'll go out and buy another clone.

Should I get 1000w of cfl? It seems like that'd be cheaper.

If you don't want to listen to me, listen to these guys.

SoCal is a saturated market bro, meaning your competition is unlimited. If you go to a dispensary and sell them a pound for 3500 you're putting someone else out of business who will go back to that same vendor and sell it for 3000 because maybe he's feeding his family with this money and needs it worse so pushing a pound for less is better then nothing.

Bro. Get a real job, grow for personal and sell to vendors on the side. If/when it takes off, do it full time. You're trying to become career drug dealers, lol.
You can't get something from nothing, your initial investment of a single clone and not even a tent tells me you're not taking this business seriously.

Good. Now you're talking.

Now get a grow tent, carbon filter, inline fan, etc. Make sure you get a good ballast too. Get 3-4 more clones.
Learn hydroponics, blows the doors off of soil.
I don't grow outdoors so that I can't recommend but you need to invest initial capital to get.

My first grow area cost me 2500. Two 1k HPS, a bunch of T5s for veg, three tents, perpetual harvest, DWC, RDWC, all a bunch of shit. You're trying to sell in SoCal with an aluminum box and a clone.

Gotta be able to compete man.

Oh and fuck that dispensary. Go somewhere else for a better clone if he told you you could harvest a pound off of one plant, he's a dick and trying to screw you. Order your HID lights online, they're cheaper because the hydro store has less overhead.

Spend money but spend money wisely, meaning go to a hydro store, get the prices then go online and see if you can get it for cheaper. This is America, the land of competition and capitalism. Someone will have it cheaper.

Well we bought this clone and made this "aluminum box" in a couple hours, we didn't really plan on any of this until somebody brought it up. This clone was meant for personal use. So answering my question, is it possible to transfer this to outdoor, or would the time of year ruin the crop. I can go buy auto flowering female seeds if that's the case

Yea tygo,s spot on forget the math and the millions you r going to make(never going to Happin) and get yourself comfortably sat down in front of your laptop and fkn study like you were sitting your higher grade exam tomorrow then make sure you LEARN In real time(your clone)about how this plant will need nurtured like a baby fed, watered, trimmed, topped, flowered, all done at a specific time with different variables to be taken into consideration to only be able to get a couple of oz at the end of it......because I don't care if you r the next Jorge Cervantes keep it real AND tight and be happy no matter wot you get......in my world I've come to expect the worse and anything better is a bonus......best of luck mate ......keep us posted on your progress and in a year's time with the help of the good members of RIU you might even have half an idea of wot it takes to extract A POUND from a single plant.....

It's Not very often I say this .....but.......I couldn't have said it any better than the wise words tygo has given you........use your grades you boasted about and get a real job......
