That's something I'm starting to believe in. That's esentially what happens with some types of psychological disorders (of course we leave out the fact that sometimes the level of pleasure hormones can be brought to a minimum which impares neural activity.) For example people who tend to have anxiety disorders simple keep "reminding" themselves that they are eg. worthless, cannot work etc. and therefore omit certain tasks they could normally do. By believing in such negative thoughts we actually transfer them into real life and we become the image we have "pointlessly" created.
So by working with a psychologist, such a person realizes after some time that it is his mind playing those tricks, and learns to ignore any negative thoughts, thus becoming a better version of themself.
