buying this grow tent package. want opinions

would there be anything that i would have to buy.
is it a good price.
how many plants would i be able to grow in it.
what would it take to get a pound from this.

That's a pretty nice package. Looks like all you need to add is pots and soil or a hydro system. I have a similar tent and flowered 8 plants last grow but was pretty crowded. I did 7 this grow and it was still pretty full. Got 5 vegging now that are going in next week. I'd suggest fewer plants in large pots, but it depends on your growing technique. I'd like to try scrog soon.

your gonna need a stronger fan with that set up, you could buy all the parts individually cheaper for horticulturesource.com

shopping list:

4x4 tent
600w ballast bulb and hood(they have packages for a fair price)
200cfm filter
400cfm 6" INLINE fan (not duct these things pumps air for real)


everthing else you should be able to find locally for cheap,
ducting, foil tape, osculating fan, ect.

for sure polyarcturus you answered it as exactly as i was wanting.

i would personally price everything out that you would want. you can get good tent for pretty cheap. with the package you cannot change them up that much. if you wanted to use different light setup or something. personally i got a 1.5'x2'x3' tent with my light(pg-180) and a fan with diy carbon filter. all of that was around 500 dollars. you can completely customize your tent if you buy everything by itsself. it might also be cheaper who knows.

You could spend less piecing what you need from ebay or amazon. I got everything I need for my 400w setup for a little over 500. A 600w setup was 550-600.

spend another 100 bucks or so on misc stuff like a decent timer, ducting, reflective tape, oscillating fan, testers. You're still well below that $900+ "package deal"

Honestly, a lot will probably disagree with me but if you want a pound out of that all you need is a waterfarm and a scrog screen. Check out drambertrichome she grows with a pretty similar setup

you got to watch your brands, I only buy Hydrofarms or Sunlight Supply Inc products,anything else not sure. when I was setting my grow area, I looked at a package deals, found some nice deals,but they were selling you a economy hood, an older magnetic ballast, and they call that a set up.I didn't do the package deal, I bought the 8" reflector hood and the digital ballast, that I wanted, and got my Sun Hut Silver LG Tent for a 100.00 on craigslist, I bought 4ft 4 tube F54 T5 HO fixture for 50.00, put new tubes in it,and been using it ever since, there is all kinds of grow stuff on craigslist and amazon, they got new and used stuff on amazon

how big is ur tent?

its 54'' x 35 1/2" x 84" the guy I got it from ran hydro in it,he had a 2' X 4' setup, I'm doing soil right now might go hydro later on not sure, with my tent I stepped up from my PC case grow box with 4 cfl's in it to a 2' x 2' x 2' grow box with 10 cfl's in it, to a 4ft 4 Tube F54 T5 HO fixture with a PVC T5 stand I built, to now a 1000' Watt MH/HPS Switchable ballast so I can run 600 Watt MH/HPS bulbs also. when I looked on Craigslist in my area there was 4'X4', 4'x8',8'x8' so where used, the one guy had three 4'x4' Sun Hut Tents new in the box never opened $300. most hydro web site stores have package deals so shop around get the best deal, even if you got to buy every thing separately.

thats a decent kit ( i would scrap the ventilation parts and get a real 6" inline fan and 6" carbon filter [and make sure the carbon is 2" thick all the way around ie... 6" hole = 10" wide filter, or its gonna stink]). you can buy better stuff for the same money. just make you a parts list and hands down the cheapest prices i found ANYWHERE is at www.plantlightinghydroponics.com . give them a look, they are a complete shop with pretty fast shipping. hope this helps. just buy quality stuff the 1st time around and youll save a ton not having to replace stuff.

waterfarm + scrog. Look at my other post.

If you are after yield scrog is the way to go. Some people will say sog, but yea. That's a lot of plants to take care of, best to focus all of your time on one.

yep i pretty much agree either SOG or scrog will get you good yeilds if your a beginer a scrog is right up your alley sucks yo have to wait longer between each harvest but it will just help your growing skills a ton. start scrog and build you way up to caring for a ton of plants in a SOG setup

A sog/scrog setup would be epic, but that is a lot of time and a lot of money haha. I agree with this also, scrog is a bit easier to deal with for beginners and those who don't have a ton of time like myself. sog can be fun but it can be a bit overwhelming at times caring for so many plants.
