Next time, bury the seed about 1/3 of an inch deep. Turn it so the taproot is facing UP so when it curls around it drags the seed through soil to help loosen the seed. If it pops out of the soil and the seed is still stuck to it, you can use something like a toothpick, to GENTLY help it come off.

not sure if you can make it out but about a half centimeter section of the stem just seems completely shriveled and sicklykeeping it around just in case something crazy happens...lol~! ya never know... but not looking good

it looks like it was planted to shallow or the medium is to hard and it made the seed rise to the soil. i also would have taken the seed coating off to reveal the leaves, that would of helped it along ALOT, u can still do it, but it will most likley kill it by now, best of luck friend

Yep, that's damping off! Germinating them in a paper towl or in a glass of water buys the seedling time. Coco contaminates faster than any other medium for seedlings.

ok, this term is completely new to me.... damping off??? I've had very good success with these particular peat pots.... NOT jiffy.... these are from a local nursery. PLEASE explain this if you have a sec!!!

Damping Off is a common disease and condition that kills seedlings or clones in soil and other media .. Pathogens , mostly mold and fungi like organisms are the cause of this and they are found in most soils ..
There is no cure for this disease and normally a high percentage of the seedling group will succumb to this if not all , especially when planting in flats as this disease strikes all plants and seeds .. Prevention is the key and control is a must .. Maintain ideal moisture and temps
Preemergence damping off causes death of a seed before it has emerged and Postemergence effects seedlings that have emerged from the soil ..
Prevention Again is worth is worth a pound of cure .. Plant seeds early outdoors and they too can rot if damp ..

quick update accompanied by a HUGE thank you for you guys who took a moment to help!!! I know she's not "out of the woods" yet because under the soil I placed loosely around the seedling, that fragile, sickly stem still resides.... BUT~ It's looking good and apparently she's a fighter!!!!!!!!! I have her in with my clones getting plenty of humidity and warmth

was SO happy to see this when I came home from work today....lol!!! you'll notice it's very off center in the little pot.... because under the soil the sickly part is still laying over.... but apparently she's drinking so my fingers are crossed!!!!! more updates to come!!! hopefully good ones!!! ty all again!!!OMG! I can't believe it survived!!

I basically just put some soil on top and figured I'd watch it shrivel over the next few days.... I thought yesterday that maybe, just maybe it seemed to be perking up a bit. When I cam home from work tonight it had noticeably started growing upwards
I got out my tweezers and helped the seed casing off... I'm thinking she may actually have a shot now I am giving her just a little residual light that is coming from inside the tent.... if she makes it another day or two I'll start working on getting her under some more substantial light...

the way i do it is take a pen ,you know the metal nib of the pen.. make a hole with it in your medium to the depth of the nib... put your seed in and backfill ,lightly.. never fails.
