Blumats in 30g Smartpots

What is a decent setup for a 30-gallon smart pot using their carrots and distribution drippers or tape?

Thanks for your response! This is my first dabble into Blumats but want to take the pump out of the link since it kicked off last year in a string of very hot days and I lost two heavy drinking plants.

So just carrots 4 carrots? I was thinking 1 maxi, two regulars, and either a few distribution drippers or a coil of blusoak tape but I'm new to this...

It'll all be gravity fed from a 55g reservoir of filtered water that tops off with a float switch.

I use one carrot per pot with 3 distribution drippers forming a ring around the base of my pot. I use the universal stakes to prop all the drippers off the soil surface so roots don't grow into them. Haven't tried the drip tape though, but it should be fine if you are using only water. Blumats are the shit!

If your not under constant pressure from either mains or a pressure pump of some type I’ve found that it can be tricky dialing the blumats in as the level of the Rez varies so like to have a smaller header tank that has a float switch set to refill the header after the level has dropped about half to an inch

There should be constant pressure from my 55g reservoir. It's got a float switch that should keep 52-53 gallons in it at all times.

Opening this back up for outdoors 2019. As I prepare I need to load up on Blumats again as I moved most of my kit to indoors to drip hydro into coco a few weeks ago.

Last year's set up was not enough water. I live in a VERY HOT area. The direct sun stresses the plants so I will add some crab meal to my top amendment but I wanted to see if anyone has ever used Blusoak tape. I was thinking that 2-3 carrots and a spiral of tape around the container would be best.

Does anyone have experience with Blusoak tape?

I just called Sustainable Village and switched over to tape after talking to their designer. Only $100 to water six 30G pots. Only a % of what I spent last year.

I considered the blusoak tape before but eventually settled on just using drip distributors instead since I do run nutrients thru my blumats. I use 3 or 4 drippers off one carrot and it works pretty well for me.

So four carrots in each 60g pot wasn't enough water? You sure they were dialed in well?

Just curious as I'm planning on 8, 100 gallons but I was thinking of use the tape so I wouldn't have to buy so many carrots.
Fed from a spigot with the pressure reducer and all that. I may feed liquid nutrients a few times through the season. Fish Hydrolysate and teas.

I do like that they have pretty inexpensive options if you're willing to sacrifice the extra efficiency.

bump. Did you end up doing this? Looking for options for six 65’s.

I did not end up setting up the blumats outdoor last year. Sorry.
Currently in works to try a 4x4 bed indoor with the tape.
