Nick Saban is just too smart. Every move is calculated. He's a great coach, but I wouldn't trust him in any sort of deal.

This is the whole reason that Saban hired Kiffin to start with. If things had went well, Saban would have looked like a genius. Now, after a bad game it's the offensive coordinators fault, and Saban is insulated from blame.

He used his non-response to the offer of the Texas job as leverage to get a nice raise from 'Bama last year.

Years ago he said publicly he was going to stay in the NFL, right before he went to Alabama.

Yeah, you got it sized up just about right I'd say...he's smart and always plays his cards to his advantage.
