back from India with a shock!

One of the great things about getting back from 2 months in India, was getting one of my ultimate souvenirs through customs, a bag of seeds given to me by a Holy Sadhu during an afternoon of smoking Chillums loaded with Charas and drinking Chai...Great memories, and hopefully an unusual crop to follow next year!

One of the not so good things was coming home to my two girls, one of whom has been yellowing, and evidently it looks on the whole, like dying from the bottom up. Perhaps dying is a little melodramatic, but as you can see from the pictures, i'd say she's probably lost around 8-10% foliage, first yellowing and then dying off.
The usual and first thing to think would be nitrogen deficiency. I had a friend put some coffee grounds on the soil whilst i was away thinking maybe this was the problem, but has been over a week since then and not too much an improvement...

So im puzzled, and getting worried, as she is the bigger and healthier of the two i have growing...

The facts:

Two plants growing side by side (one doing fine, has some older leaf decay at the bottom, but from what i can gather thats to be expected)
Grown in Subcools Super Soil Recipe
So; no nutrients added.
sown the at the start of spring so 5 months old now, and still about 7 weeks away from the start of flowering.
for the past 8 weeks they have been on a timed watering system every 3 days, have also had natural rain etc. The only thing i was dubious about was giving them water straight form the tap but couldn't be avoided as i was out of the country for 2 months, so maybe its some kind of mineral build up in the soil, but then why isn't it effecting the other plant, although it too does have some yellowing as mentioned and a few dead leaves here and there, but still looking very healthy.

I am pretty puzzled. Are the nutrients in supersoil only good for a few months? I was under the impression they would last the whole crop. If so why is she yellowing and dying off so aggressively? and why is the other plant doing okay?

Any input left of field ideas most welcomed as im pretty stumped, and overall these two plants were growing beautifully until very recently...

Also from looking at the plants side by side, it does kind of look like the smaller one could follow suit, looks a little lighter at the bottom then at the top?1!?!? (the last pic side by side, shows the plants after i have removed all the dead foliage)

Thanks in advance!
