Good question. I took an extensive course in grafting years ago. It was very interesting. There's several ways to do it. What would make you want to graft weed though? A hermie problem?

Multiple strains off one plant

nah im just curious as to see how it would turn out, so instead of just breeding 2 plants the normal way if i grafted maybe they might turn out different with better traits.

i searched google couldnt find any, im seeing alot of shit with hops but i was thinking more along the lines of grafting a ruderalis to an indica or sativa for an example , not mixing to completly different plants.

anyways im going to try it out , ill start in 6months when my plant has a decent sized trunk

Yeah man definitely works, I have a thread on it from a bit back. I just finished chopping down my favorite lady and im going to try in the next day or two. Does anyone have any input on using cloning gel?

You don't put clonging gel, it contains a hormone that inspires root growth. You actually want the xylem etc. to reconnect between the two plants.

logzz let us know when u do yours , im cutting down a slut in like 3 weeks i might try it then but im worried the trunk isnt big enuff "dont ask me why tho"

actually rooting hormone can increase the success of the graft. It increases the formation of callus and the rate at which the new cambium cylinder is differentiated through the callus parenchyma cells. Cell division is increased etc. At least it does work in trees and I don't really see why it wouldn't work in herbs. In the youtube video I linked to he mentions, yes, he did use rooting hormone. My understanding is that powder based works best, but liquid has success as well.
