Any tips regarding switching from veg to flower?

I am about to flip in a few days, and this being my first grow, was looking for something me tips from the more experienced.

I read somewhere that people were keeping it dark for an extended period of time, like 36 hours, before switching the light cycle. I'm guessing it's to reenforce the flowering stage.

Is this good practice? Any other tips?

Count the days untill you see your tips start to pop flowers and hairs. When you notice it that's day 0 of flower and transition is over.

If you have a mechanical timer rather than a digital timer replace it with a digital timer. It may not happen soon, it may not even happen during this grow but if you’re using a mechanical timer sooner or later you’re going to push a couple of the pins down and not notice it. And you won’t notice it until you start seeing plants revegiing in flower.

I started with digital but switched to mechanical after faulty digital timers. Granted they were the cheap ones but I feel safer with the mechanical and making sure the pins are set correctly.

1. Check your vents, and ports for tightness & light leaks. Make sure all Velcro is firmly pressed together. If you have another person, it’s very helpful for them to press from one side while you press the other side of the Velcro together. If you haven’t opened then, just make sure exhaust & intake ports are good.
2. Have enough air flow. If my plant was tall.. 3-4ft after stretch, I’d strip the plant 12” from the pot going up.
3. Keep an eye on the stretch & distance from the light.
4. Lean towards LST & away from any topping or excessive pruning/defoliation. (Defoliate at your discretion)

Make your first feeding after flip a full veg feed and consider adding cal mag. They need it all for the stretch.
