Id be interested in that kind of info aswell. Though living in my apartment I feel like it would be hard to hide that kind of grow op with inspections from time to time. Stealth/Cabinet growing seems like a better way to go in apartments.

This is a thread that interests me. My current grow area is a spare room in my apt. I have a two bedroom apt in Nor Cal. Running not a 1000w mind , but rather a 600w. What I would say is be careful with odor ......again be careful with odor . This will make or break your grows. There is nothing other neighbors like less than strange strong odors wafting in the hallway or around your front door. You will have to be vigilant at all times with containing cannabis smells while growing. I am in similar situation with my personal grow operation. Through trial and error I have a system that will mask and remove any hint of cannabis from the area of my apt closest to the public areas. I strongly suggest fabric conditioner sheets as a verifiable way of cleaning your cannabis odor. All the other methods , such as ona gel , ozium etc....did not work for me and in fact created suspicion and qsts about cannabis smell indoors.

I have one going in a 1 bedroom apartment that has a pretty big storage closet inside. I have ona gel and some odor thing I got from home depot as well. No issues with odor coming out of the room at all but my grow isn't far along at all. I will update on the odor when it gets farther along.

I did this once. I wont do it again. I was in the apartment (townhouses) for 6 months and SUPRISE! Fire inspection. I wasn't doing anything illegal but I had to leave which cost me thousands of dollars. I was just getting started with the perpetualality of my grow house. I would suggest getting a trailer home in a state that its legal to grow in and that you tell the front office about what you are planning to do before you buy the trailer. A trailer can be easily and cheaply modified to fit whatever you want to do. Space can be limited but it is up to you. It feels good to be warned about energy audits 3 months in advance and have them stand up for you because they don't want you to get into any trouble.

My hat's off to you guys, especially where the laws are outdated. Control smell, sound, light, heat and vibrations. May the spirit of Jack Herer watch over you and keep you safe.

I'm using 600 watts HPS now, switched from MH during veg. 6'' fans, carbon filter, sealed tent and pushing air through the roof keeping everything smooth. Had an inspection too and so far still successful with a little luck too aiming for a good first harvest. I do plan on eventually moving out and renting or buying a house next, but this was a nice set up, top floor, corner unit and free water+electric$, I Upload two videos on my profile that shows my set up and how my 5 ladies are doing.

Working pretty good for you I see.

It's a very bad idea to grow as large as 1000 watt grow in an apartment. Especially in non friendly states. There are all the obvious reasons...smell, inspections, disposal/bringing in gear/material.. Then you need to make sure that you even have a circuit that would be safe to pull all the electric needed for a 1000 watt grow. Some apartments are wired with 10 amp breakers. Even at the normal 15 amp with your light 1000 watts ballast 200 watt fans 50 amps extraction fan 115 watts which is like 1365 watts or So you are getting real near the safe limit.

Smell is massively important so you have to run extraction filtration which is very loud n an apartment. Be careful that you hide that sound.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment/condo that I grow in. I am using a 600w and a 150w.
The only thing is my condo is owned by my moms friend so the apartment complex never comes here, she doesnt either without making plans a week in advance.
Id say find a person you can rent from and become good friends with them.
BUY NICE THINGS (furniture, tv, computers, and what not so you look like a nice intelligent well off person who seems to have a good bit of electronics.
Live there a month or two getting everything in order, have them come over and look at your place once or twice and then it should be smooth sailing.
If you ever need anything fixed, offer to take care of it. You need to learn how to take care of a house any way because you should be trying to move up.

Like people say it may not be the best idea but if youre smart and you know who youre renting from it should be fine.

Another idea is a closet grow where youve replaced the doorknob to need a key and you keep that bitch locked.

Yea I got a 600 watt hps that runs constantly, I rotate flowers under every 12 hours into o a darkroom I made, in the closet of that bedroom I have 750 watts of cfl...at the moment I have 88 plants going. Every week I put 4 in flower...i don't run carbon filters or anything like that, I grow low odor strains, still extremely potent and tastey don't be fooled.... I rent houses or apts off Craigslist so I don't have to deal with maintenance..many places like to inspect fire alarms ect ect twice a year from my experience.....

I've been running this set up for a little while now. When I have company over I simply close that bedroom door and I put my dog in there..my dig likes to eat people lol so putting her up when company is over seems logical anyway, nobody question why a barking dog is hidden behind a door...
I also folded duct tape in on itself so part isn't sticky and ran that along the edges of the door.......it keeps light from blasting out the cracks

Now I won't pretend to be an expert with strains and genetics..but I've found indicas in general to put out a lot of frost but most of that frost is stanky terps(and harsh wax). I'm growing heavy sativas and no skunk or diesels. But Jamaican Mexican Thai ect are very low odor and more of a sweet fruity smell. The Mexican I'm growing right now smells like rotten mangoes..so they smell nice but its not that pungent funk that creeps around corners and soaks through walls...generally don't smell in flower but will during trim.. smell sweet almost like tea most of the time in a jar with subtle delish smells..nit the overpowering double bagged shit I've seen people grow......hope that helped...I've never ordered seeds online so I don't know much about exact strains

also very good points, I would suggest LED lighting for lower heat output, I use a digital ballast ( lower energy consumption) with a timer and surge protector for extra safety, don't plug all your equipment in one socket either.. and for the sound, I have a 6' fan, yes it's loud but can be silenced by over 50% with a duct filter.. A Carbon filter will be needed in a apartment grow to control smell specially if you don't have this last thing... MOST IMPORTANT for me was to also make sure I had a good exhaust for the hot air and good air intake pulling fresh air into the tent, so you would need to be always on the top floor, preferably a corner unit and a vent that goes out the roof, and even then I still use a carbon filter and it keeps all the smell out for me. Otherwise, just rent a house. :bigjoint:

and if anyone is interested in seeing how I passed an apartment inspection at a nice luxury apt here in LA, CA with my manager and the head maintenance in my apartment, WITHOUT hiding the 7 foot 4x4 tent...Please feel free to enjoy this semi-long but funny post... I also forgot to comment back the results 2 weeks after the inspection...So just yesturday ( 2 weeks after the fire/ annual inspection) I received a letter from them...Inside was an offer or renewal letter LOL:roll::mrgreen::bigjoint:
