About 2% of my plants leaves are curling in and dying

Hi Guys,

My plant looks pretty healthy. However about 2% of the leaves are going soft, then they loose their green color - going browny- skin colored. Then they drying up and dying. This is all starting from the tips of the leaves.

week 3 of 12/12. EC 1.0 PH 5.8. Temps 70-85F. Bubble Bucket. 1,000W HPS.

Any ideas? I am using bloom nutes. GH Micro, grow and bloom. Calmag, Silica, Big Bud and bud candy.

85F is a little warm for an indoor grow. If you're using all of those ferts, it might be too much. aren't those bud products full of phosphorus? if you use them it suppose to be sparingly, in small amounts and not for the entire grow. pics would help, but sounds like too warm and too much phosphorus.

where is the nute burn? top or bottom?
where is the yellowing? top or bottom?

probably overfed as polish said. plants drinking too much hard water from 85f

I have been using it for 2 months in my bubble bucket, my roots are perfect....I am using an immune booster for the plant though

cool roots are good i always start there need to post pic's and people well chime in get you in the right direction

Hi guys,

below are some pics. The leaf was from the TOP growth. My canopy temps (measured with an infrared sensor) shows my canopy temps or leaf temp is 82F. Air temps are difficult to measure. The thermometer on the floor shows 76F, the other one in the middle of the tent shows 93F. But that is because it is being warmed from the light.


My light is about 55CM away from the top of my plant in an air cooled hood.

PH 6.0 EC 0.8

since that leaf is from the top, I wondering if you're getting the same effect on the leaf that you have on the thermometer - too much light heating things up. the tips along the sides curling upwards is usually in response to high temp. a solution is to move the light up some. if not, then this plant probably should've been scrogged.

Do you think 2% of leaves with a couple of brown patches is enough to be asking for help ? It looks like its going to pull through.

You're in a tent, I see your CFL hanging low so I'm curious how far from your light is the plant? Also have your put your hand over the top of your plant to see what the heat was like? You girl looks pretty good and some leaf dying off is no big deal, but it looks like a combo of light heat and room heat might be the culprit.

I had to relearn to grow when I started using tents… prior to that I could grow 5' monsters, now they gotta stay low and wide. above 3' in a tent is getting in the danger zone.

20 inches from the light. That is the distance my canopy is from the light.

Its not about the 2% of the leaves dying its if I dont stop it now, by week 7 it may be 80%! So I would rather catch it early.

I cant really raise my light up any more.....nearing the limit:/ If I put my hand under the light it feels fine....

I'm thinking it's too warm in there, that's a wide range in temp from 76 to 85. I still suspect it's temp related and 1000 watt sodium is a lot for a single plant in a tent. I don't know about using the extra phosphorus ferts. I'd cool that down too. looks like the leaf edges are curling upward and they do this in response to high air temp.

I cant get the temps down. Maxing out at 83F canopy temp. I have a fan blowing directly on the plants....

83F is max with the closest part of the plant to the lamp. 80F everywhere else +-

is this a big problem? my plants leaves are definitly drying up and dying at a slow rate but the plant still looks happy? Its the large fan leaves that are drying up...the smaller leaves dont seem to be affected...

Looks like it could be some kinda pest or lock out / deficiency

Check for fungus gnats and other such bugs and I`d be on the lookout for any root issues, it could be heat but they normally take a bit more than that

You may want to cut down on feeding things with a lot of sugar that can lead to issues in bubblers

I'm going to guess that 1000W is too much for that tent. I think that's the problem. Even if you have a fan in there, doesn't matter because light isn't pushed around by wind. all the fan can do is move heat out of the tent once it develops on any object the light comes into contact with. 600 watter needed. even 400 would be fine, at least you bought the correct color. and easy on the ferts. that could be just as guilty in this I'm afraid. sometimes less is better.

Where did I say I am using a 1000W light? I am using 1x 600W Ushio HPS. 3x 300W led's. Total power draw from wall: 1250W....
