A Guide To Colloidal Silver

Now, for a few questions:
1) Does the type of sprayer/mister matter? does it have an impact on Ag particle size? Don't know would think finer is better
2) What is the optimal maturity level of a flower for pollination? By wk 3 they will take but really 4 or more and the seeds will fill the bud. Remember you will need at the bare min 5wks to get some mature seeds, the best results are 6wks plus for mass fully mature seeds. This usually means you're taking the plant well past it's normal cut time, do it if you want good seeds.
3) And I know that there are loads of variables but - ballpark -- say you pollinate a flowering bud the size of a Bic lighter. How many seeds would that bud yield? Depending upon how much pollen exposure, the age into flower, and the time you let them mature, anywhere from 5 to 30
How did things go for you?

UPDATES
Well, everyone is flipped to 12/12. Here are the girls. I've been spraying once a day with 20-25ppm. No bananas or balls yet. Some pistils are beginning to appear.. They're under a T5 rigth now.
How many days did you spray prior to flipping? I'd recommend spraying 2x daily now.

I didn't read though the entire thread, as I'm just hear to warn about potential allergic reaction to colloidal silver. I've worn silver jewelry for years with no problem, and still do, but I had a major allergic reaction after using colloidal silver topically. It was so bad I had to be put on a strong dose of Prednisone. My doctor told me my reaction to colloidal silver was fairly common. This allergic reaction left part of my skin discolored for almost 6 months.

So, if you're going to use colloidal silver just take precautions. It took multiple exposures to the stuff before I had this issue.

Thanks for sharing. What strength were you using, and how often/for how long?

I was using Sovereign Silver, I believe it was 0.8 at 10ppm. After twice a day for 3 days I developed a major case of contact dermatitis that I was told might leave my skin pigment discolored for life. Luckily I recovered fully.
Interesting. I wonder if it was pure CS. The burning effects of storebought CS on plants is profound enough that I wouldn't be surprised to see an adverse reaction if applied to skin.

While I can't recommend it for anyone else, I HAVE sprayed my homemade CS on myself for at least a couple of weeks straight, and didn't notice any ill effects, discoloration, rashes, etc..

I sprayed 7 days before I flipped to 12/12. Will do 2x/day from here on out. Fingers crossed.
Sounds good to me. I'd expect you to start seeing results sometime within the next 3 weeks. Likely, sooner than later, but that's also strain dependent, so it's hard to predict the first time. Some tend to put up much more of a "fight" against flipping. Personally, I prefer that, because I feel like they would be less likely to "hermie" under normal conditions.

While a bit off topic, I mentioned in an earlier post that I've inadvertently achieved "rodelizating" one of my older Fruit punch plants. Here are some pics
The buds are definitely foxtailing but still producing white hairs. You can see the seeds in the 2 closest up pics. Couldn't get a good pic of the few, little bananas I found. No other plants in the space seem to have been affected.

you can't see from the pics but the buds are frosty, white, no amber. I'll probably harvest most of the big buds in the next day or so, they take a bit of extra attention to dry properly bc they're so dense. But I'm really interested to see if these seeds are in fact feminized through rodelization.

I'd expect females if all you had were females growing at the time. If it was rodelization, it's up to you, depending on how long it took to produce pollen and how stable the genetics usually are, if you want to keep them or not. I think a lot of plants will produce some pollen if left long enough.

What a fantastic thread, ive learnt a lot , thanks to all
Im starting my seed breeding programe, & im using 2 green crack plants, & homemade c.s, which i havnt made yet, my adaptor has different settings , from 3 - 12 volt, what vault should i use ?
The jar im using is 600 ml, so there will be about 500 ml of distilled water, with 2 silver bullions , 1 gram each, how long would the c.s take to make at say 9 volts & how deep into the water do i submerge the bullion
I thought by making small batches , id always be fresh, but this thread , says it will last in glass for up to a month, or are you better using silver wire, instead of the bullion??Also do you have to strain the c.s
I read somewhere that a few drops of Salene , helps the process??

My idea was to start spraying i plant, a few days before flp, & take the other plant away & keep it under 18-6 for another 3 weeks then flip, hoping this will have the pollen ready when she's at the 2-3 week flowering stage, . im wanting to get the sprayed plant to around 40 cm before treating , as i hope to store sum pollen, to backcross strait away with , in the hope , that it will stabilize the strain
The Green Crack plants look identical & are both from fem seed

Id be very interested to hear from anyone with any thoughts, it all works on paper, will it work for real ??
Regards

You must have your PPM. pen to know when your CS is done. You make your CS with amps not volts. Use the lowest amp transformer you can find, takes longer but makes finer ions, what you want. Silver must be 99.999% pure. I use 12 gage wire. Read another thread on CS. Do you know how to store pollen ?

Thx A.K.A. , yes ive been told , to mix the pollen with equal parts of flour, in an air tight container , then freeze it, if your lucky i might last for 12 months..............is there a better way

Early in this thread , under the heading ...............Make your own C.S generator, it says to use one between 5-30 volts, which i asume converts to amps, the one i was going to use has settings 3-12 volts, what is that in amps, any 1, please

You need both voltage and wattage information to figure out the amperage. Does your device have a mA number on it? 1000mA = 1ampere, so try to get one that is rated below 1000mA.
If you decide to buy one, aim for the one with the lowest possible voltage between (5-30v) and try to stay under 1000mA. The weaker current will help create smaller particles even though it takes a bit longer (only hours so it doesn't matter)

Thx for that , yes it does, in the Technical Specifications, on the back of the box it says 1000mA max, & the individual settings on the adaptor , range from 3-12, so if i try six V, & use my tds metre, every hour or so, i might get an idea, as to wether or not im sucseeding, thx again

Yea, that method should work. The TDS isnmeter doesnt give a 100% accurate measure of the Colloidal Silver concentration, but it definitely helps you find out where you want to be. The actual reading number isn't that sensisitve. Anything above 15-20ppm should work. Just try to stop it while it's still pretty clear, vs after it gets cloudy and full of larger particles.
