6wk flower yellowing and death.

Hey fellow Organics.

I posted this in plant problems but wanted to poke around in organics too to get some additional prospective and feedback.

Hey yo.

Two strains mixed in tent. LSD (3) and Sweet Island Skunk. (3)

1k HPS with Temperatures from 60F-77F. Humidity from 30-60%

Soil (Roots organics original mixed with coco/pearlite) 5 gallon plant warrior pots. Food is also Roots Organics full line/strength. 1/wk

Cloned/vegged for 3/mo prior to flower.

Ph in between 6-7. Ph out usually around 6.5. (Earth Juice crystals up and down)

Grew them both before and have taken me to harvest with no yellow leaves. (not necessarily a good thing)

This go around around 4 weeks into flower the rear plants (nearest the floor fans) started yellowing. It began to spread to the middle plants and eventually all of them by week 5 had some yellowing/dying fan leaves or even light yellow/green bud leaves.

At first I increased the amount of grow (N) I was adding and saw no improvement. Then I did a complete flush with 40g r/o to remove salts and re fed with full str at 6.5. Its been a week and I see more uniform yellowing and maybe a slight slow down in leaf decay.

I'm really scratching my head on this one. The ph tells me it can feed, the flowers other than yellow leaves look like they are developing normally. Trichome production has commenced.

Please share your thoughts.

Dont know about the LSD, but i do know SIS can be fussy. You have around 4-5 wks left and if feeding them doesnt change then dont be worried. I have some grape apes down in my grow atm that just dont want to stop cannibalizing itself no matter what I feed. It started weeks ago and they only have 2 wks left if max. AS long as the new growth is green and healthy and the buds look good no worries

Could be root bound. My Dream Lotus has a very vigorous root system and gets root bound easily if I veg her too long. It starts yellowing and dropping leaves around week 5 or 6 if this happens. If it don't let it get too big it's never an issue.

@st0wandgrow based on past experience it does get root bound in this pot as its an air pot and only holds 4g soil.

This typically doesn't happen until week 10 ish.…

Could contionous cloneing cause a more robust faster growing plant? Do you need to ajust on an incline when using clones? This is my first year with them.

nahh, don't believe that stuff regarding clones, the ONLY thing I have noticed is the plant clones slower, like a week longer now, and I've been cloning, off of clones, off of clones for almost 20 years, it doesn't make a difference, my mother plants only go an extra 3 months before I flower them out too, I don't have room for ten mothers, so I have ten clones of the mothers, I like to have at least 7 different strains (one different per day)...
But shit, who am I kidding, right now, including the different phenotypes, I have I think almost twenty different plants right now... makes my head hurt a lil...
I have a jack herer that I got in 2004, and a bluedream I got in 2006 or 2007, can't remember, and i'm running perpetual harvest, usually three to five harvests a year, not including outdoor. I've got hundreds of clones from both of those, and prior to that I had a spiceyjack (I miss that girl) a J1, and a hashplant, I cloned those for years as well.
I'd say it's rootbound, remember a good rule for soil grows is 2 gallons of soil per foot of growth, assuming you don't scrog or LST. looks like you may need a bigger pot, thopse are some hefty ladies to be crammed into 4 gallon pots, I bet your yields would increase too, even still they look fantastic.

@greasemonkeymann Wow, I hst quite a bit and they usually finish at 6f. So that's 10+gallon pot each….

I have the same prepetual grow as you. Thanks for the input.
i'd bet you'd be high-fiving yourself all day after putting those ladies in at least a ten gallon, not sure how much bigger the diameter "footprint" is of the 10 gal smartpot, but it's not that big, meaning picturing a ten gallon container and you'd think it'd be bigger, I wanna say it's around a 12-14 inch diameter? maybe a lil bigger, but how big are the 5- gallons pots?
OR, I have had damn good luck putting to smaller ladies in the same 15 gallon pot, better results than you'd think, although they were smaller and only had two tops a piece, so four colas in total for the container (it was an experiment to see if four colas from two plants would be better than four colas from one plant, turned out almost like a medium sea of green kinda thing)

@greasemonkeymann their actually plant warrior pots they don't come in larger than 5g.
12.75 x11.5

I guess I'll see how bound they are when I pull em. Have some 10g normal round I can run next time.

Problem is its all in a tent and the 10g will take up more space then the footprint my hood gives off. Might have to re think veg time if thats going to be a problem.

ahhh, no shit?, well then, my advice was pretty useless huh?
My bad man, I thought warrior pots was another fancy name for another fabric container on the market.
I see your issue though, maybe want to think about possibly doing two plants per container and upgrading to fabric pots? Just a suggestion... may get more colas in your footprint. Works pretty well if you top them once and have two tops per plant, four per pot, and those colas are some dense ones too, plus less veg time, you can flower about 15-20 days after topping them.
For the record I don't grow that way anymore, but it did work well, for same strains of course.
Obviously don't want a Vietnamese and an afghani next to each other...
Whoa, that sounded racist..

hmm, now i'm thinking six plants would fit nicely in three ROLS/no till containers..... Ooopps...Sorry, i'm making up new ways to do YOUR grow, my bad man.

Root bound would be my guess. I grow lsd myself and I can pull her out of a five gallon bucket soil roots and all, like a cork after harvest. One thing to keep in mind is the natural life cycle of the plant. All plants are different some leafs get yellow and fall off mid flower and do it again late in flower. One thing I will say is maybe instead of adding ph down just leave it alone and just add calmag plus. The plants might need the calmag and depending on what kind you use it will drop the ph a little. TBO I prefer them looking a little yellow when I harvest. I have a pic of lsd grow pics 029.jpg
