600 watt (HPS) vs. 1000 watt (HPS)

For the most yield in optimal conditions what set-up would be the best? A 600 watt or a 1000 watt (HPS) light? I've read that a 600 watt (HPS) light offers the most lumens per sqft but would my plants benifit more from the 1000 watt?

A 600 offers the most lumens per WATT, but a 6 by itself will not out perform a 1k. The lumen per-watt difference is only slight, but either way, the rule-of-thumb is a 600w over a 3x3 tray, and a 1k over a 4x4.

Another cool feature of the 6 is that you can run 2 of them off of 1 ballast. Theses 1200w ballasts are easy to aquire, and you can choose to run only one light or both.

One for veg, both for bloom maybe.
