4" Fan, how loud?

If I got a 4" fan setup with combi ducting in a small grow box (2x2x1.5) and plugged it in with no speed controller

How loud would it be?

Would it be alright or would it sound like a jet taking off?

That's the fan I'm looking at which is made by RAM

"Rapid Air Movement grow room fans have quickly become the industry standard, due to quality components and high performance. This superb 4" RAM Air Fan is so powerful it far outperforms many other brands & is so reliable that it comes with a free 2 years manufacturer's warranty.

Say goodbye to messing around wiring your fan in too, Rapid Air Movement Fans are the first to come with a free IEC plug connection.

This high powered inline fan can run at an impressive 277m3/hour and features top quality bearings and components. These mean the 4 inch RAM fan will perform quietly and powerfully over several years."

To get the true answer search for the db rating maybe contact the company directly.. Like a jet engine no.. An 8 inch will move some air and noise 4s aren't that bad

I use a 6" fan with a brushless motor, with a fan speed controller and can barely hear it even on full speed.

Invest in a fan speed controller, a good investment for controlling noise & airflow!

This one to be exact;

Yeh I need a fan and filter though and these ram ones seem good and a decent price. But I can't afford a good speed controller ATM as my car has just whacked me with £400 for an mot -_- so if I buy the kit and then add a speed controller. That's the plan

They cheap ones dont adjust the speed the same way as the expensive ones which can cause humming and shorten the fan life.
I'll give it a go and see how it goes cheers

Fair enough. Mine as posted above is a no brand, and proves the cheaper guys can sometimes match the higher end guys.

I experience no humming what so ever, nor any problems!:blsmoke:

If you do not hook up aspeed controller that four inch fan will be allot louder than you want, the type of speed controller you want is called a variac type variac speed controller into amazon and it comes right up
