300 Watt CFL

Today i was shopping at my local lowes and as i was wandering through the lighting department trying to think of wat else i had to buy, and i noticed, next to the other Clf's, a 300 watter. I took it out of the box to look at it and the shit was huge, about the size of a 400 watt mh. I didnt know they made cfl's that big, and self ballisted too. The weirder thing was that it fit into a normal size socket. And priced at about 15 bucks. I'm definately gonna go back and get one, and maybe make a reflector for it.
Could find ne pictures of one sorry.

I think the equivalent, not exatly sure though. But it was the spiral type which is weird for that high of a wattage lamp. I guess ill let pll know wat the exact wattage is wen i get one.

thats why i got floras T5s if u have 10 your close to the light output of a hps

BUT you are 10K lumens less with T5s and the light spectrum isnt the same i believe hps is 2100 spectrum and the T5s are 2700 light spectrum.

hps has a high as heat signature which floras dont

Yeah im gonna buy a reflector(that i could make for $30) without the bulb for $80. Some ppl might not have a problem blowing cash on sumthing like that, but i like to save where i can, and at $15 u cant go too wrong.

if they are the 65w=200 or 300, I have been using them and they seem allright. Stay away from that lowes bright effects brand, they burn out faster then hell if they are on 24/0.

I have a 300 watt equivalent (65 actual watts) that was bought from Lowes... Brand's called "Bright Effects". I wouldn't recommend running these lights 24/0 anyway.. i think the spectrum of the bulb should tell you that these lights should be on a 12/12 light schedule... They lasted for about 7 months straight on 12/12. If anything, I would be running the cheaper 26w 6500K daylights 24/0 for vegging.... I would get this 65 watt, 300 EQUIVALENT, fo sho. If you have the room in your grow space for it, throw it in there with a dome reflector and stick that puppy right in the middle of the foliage... There are plans for getting two more of these for floor lighting...

Here are some pictures of how big that 65 actual watt, 300 watt equivalent "mini monster" CFL looks... The plants respond well to it, overall... But i'd much rather go for any CFL that has 40 actual watts. 40 watters seem to be the most efficient in regards to lumen output per dollar AND you can spread those 40 watters around more freely.... These are my favorites as they are a perfect size, don't produce much heat and the lumen output per dollar rocks:

^^Those are the only kind put in the box, now^^

The CFL in the foreground is the huge 65 watter... See how it serves the LST'ed sativas rather well! The small dome reflector helps.

Check out the grow journal in my sig for more examples of both of these lights in a set-up: (so many pics)

Yeah i bought one of those... a 65 watt (300 watt equivilent) CFL from Lowes (Bright Effects) on sale for $12.99... It's is 3900 lumens, and 2700k which works out great b/c i'm 4 weeks into flowering.. I'm using a 250 watt hps and need some side lighting...

I'm adding the 65 watt CFL for the bottom of the plants, as well as 2 23 watt cfl's for the tops, with more 2-4 40 watters to come probably in the next few days for the middle of the plants.. Gets a little crammed though w/ all the lights and fans.. not to mention all the leaves, lol... like my own little mini jungle...

Good to know they last a while if used under 12/12 lighting... Lowe's didn't have a 6500k 65 watt CFL?? Do they burn out fast as well under 24/0 lighting? If so, i don't think they are worth it for veggin'....
