3 weeks old should they be bigger????look

I started germ on the 18th Dec. they are right at 3 weeks........should the main "trunk" be thicker...they are getting top heavy even as small they are....the "trunk at soil level is much smaller than the top.....last night i went to blow<gently> off a peice of dust and the plant fell over like the root wasnt deep.....when the soil dries out the base of the plant is HARD like its preventing the base of the trunk to expand....whats my prob <if there is one> are there sizes "on time"

Considering your perlite-free soil that is what I would expect in a chilly place.

If you'll add perlite (lets say 35%) you will see a difference pretty quick.

ur plants do look tiny for 3 weeks. are u using a fan on them?that wood help wit the stalk to make it stronger. and mayb u shood water a lil sooner. u dont want the soil to completly dry out b4 u water and like the other guy said id add sum perlite to that soil to help it retain water bttr

hey man im in my first grow atm mine are just under 5 weeks old now. but mine were like that at the start. until l changed my light to hps thats when i noticed a difference. but if your using a good lighting system just be patient my friend. nothing will happen over night. it all takes time :D

it does get chilly in there....it was 19 outside last night.....think chilly stunted them?... and all im using is a florou tube cause im in a small town and the 1 hardware store had 1 150w hps for like 45$!!! no one around here has "gardening stuff in the winter....

the soil does get real dry on the top but i went from every day to every other day.... the soil is pretty loose, i got a bunch of styrafoam from christmas ....could i crumble that up....what do i do up root the plant and start over with the soil?

18/6 makes the plant grow thicker in the dark..? what about a black light in the dark cycle my freind told me it made growout not tall...? dunno

A little small perhaps... they look reasonably healthy.

Try to get your plant tops even (prop up the smaller pots..), and get the light closer -- like an inch -- and move it up regularly as they grow.

Cool weather will slow their growth, yes, but as long as you can keep your room temp 65-ish at night, that's good.

I agree, keep those lights as close as you can 1/2" if possible. If you check on those plants at least once a day, there's no reason you won't be able to keep those lights within an inch of the lights. And like this member said, use spacers(boxes, books, etc...) to keep all the plants at the same level so they are all about an inch away. Also, don't be afraid to give them a little water. As long as you don't keep them sopping wet, they will do much better than if they are overdry. Water them thoroughly every time the top 1/2" of the soil gets dry, and they'll be some happy plants(as long as you have drainage holes in the bottom).

Bring those lights nice and close, and you'll be surprised at the difference that it makes in growth. They should be at least 8" tall by now, and fairly bushy, even with those fluoros. :)

Yeah thats small this is my first ever grow with cfls and I took the seed out of my napkin for germination on december 15th and planted and this is what I got.

oki added a small space heater the bulb is about to touch the plants and turned the fan on.... i wasnt running the fan cause its so chilly in there but now its windy and toasty....good? thanks for the info yall

I think they look good. My plants go thru a variety of subtle leaf position changes - droop, , curl, "standing at attention" - depending on watering, temp, time of day, etc. Simple answer is your plants look pretty happy there; see how it goes for awhile.

if your temps are too cold add an incadescent light in there. a 100w bulb is like a 98w oven.
its some extra light too :D and its really cheap and readily available.
you can put it over the plants (not too close so the radiant heat won't burn them) and have a fan from above making the hot air come down to the plants instead of up- where hot air usually go.

Bending the stems every once,,.. <works great No need for fan . If u use a fan dont blow down on them ,blow from side or up. If your mediums ph is to high < problems ... cal/mag may help and it may get rid of puple stems . use Root stimulater.,,hygrozyme...h202..superthrive
