1000 W HPS cost???

A friend of mine used to grow and is probably the most informed person on growing that i have met personally, so i asked him grow some plants for me. I told him i would pay for everything he just had to grow them and he would get a little piece from it. But now his roommates got sketched out about the plants and they didnt want to be arrested. So I put them outside, you can see them below in the link.

but after all of this he is asking for 150 bucks for the electricty bill. mind you i spent 250 on seeds, 100 on soil, reflector and some nutes, then prolly 50 on misc stuff like buckets and stuff like that. Now my question is, would a 1000W HPS bulb use up that much electricity??? and lets say for arguments sake that electricity around where i live is on the more expensive end.

for 12 hours a day and a rate of say 10 cents a kwh, 1.20 a day... like 36 bucks a month. 10 cents p/kwh is around the average in the US. but $150 is a bit out of the question.

Sorry i forgot it was on for 24 hours a day, but even if it was 24 hours 150 seems a little steep

for some reason i got the idea that you only wanted to flower, therefore only needing 12 hours of light at the most. but yeah 24 hours...just double it and it's still around half the price he is asking.

he didn't say how long he grew them. by my calculations, if you were being charged 10 cents per kilowatt hour running them 24 hours a day for a whole month, that's $72, so if your electricity is on the expensive side, it could very well be around $150, especially if he was growing for longer than a month.

He only grew them for a month, and even if my electricity is .15 cents a KW it would be about 110 bucks. so IDK i gave him 80 cuz thats wat i thought was fair but he wants more so i was just wondering if any of you guys thought i was getting ripped off

hps isn't commonly used for veg, but i guess so

that's false. i'm using one right now for veg. there is a such thing as an expanded spectrum bulb which works extremely well.

to answer your question, just offer to give the guy some of the harvest. if he's a prick about it, tell him to go fuck himself.

well He used a 1000W HPS from the begining, they stretched a lot in the begining but after they bot MADDDDD bushy it was crazy
