Who said noise was an issue? You can't hear the fans in my closet. I never planned on turning them off anyways.. I heard it causes mold if they're not running.

So are you planning on having 10 clones to 1-2 cfls? I thought I was crazy for having 6 of them to 3 plants.. In my opinion, you're going to need to add more light(s).

Red wire to red wire, black wire to black wire, green wire to green wire. As far as wire nuts go, the orange ones from ideal will work, but if you're in doubt just check the back of the box and it'll tell you what each model is capable of.

Exactly! Mine's having problems with light leaks too. Mainly around the sides of the lid.. but here's a picture of the box in the dark: You could try and put velcro along the insides of the lid where it meets the outside wall so it's flush. It may be a little difficult to open, though. and...

I upgraded to a rubbermaid grow box. It can fit a couple more plants that a pc grow box can so I'm happy. :)

Melting? I don't think so. You could cut a few holes to fit the ballast into anything durable enough to hold it around your house. I used a piece of gutter(the drainage/vertical piece) I found and cut out holes and it works just fine.

Haha nope. The intake fans are actually just two 12V PC fans stuck together. They're turned off at the moment until I get my other 4 lights in there because the temperature is getting too low. I did salvage an xbox fan though, and it's sitting in my toolbox, unused because of how loud it is.

Lst was exactly what I was planning actually, and topping if necessary. I had the ducting on to get rid of the light escaping. Any idea on how to lightproof the fan without ducting? Also, if I were to reverse the direction of the intake fan to make passive intake, wouldn't I run into problems...

Well, I threw together a PC grow box after doing a little research on it. My budget for the box was about $50 but I ended up spending nothing to make it. I recycled just about every material I could possibly use to save on cost and I believe it turned out very nice for spending nothing...

There are several wiring guides posted up around the site :) Personally, I prefer wiring with wire nut connectors, but electrical tape serves its purpose just fine. You can also use heat shrink tubing.
