    Incorporating comfrey into my mulch

Great thread. I was wondering how I could use some leaves from my new comfrey plant. I'm gonna prune a few off and chop them up and top dress a few plants. Would it be to much for my girls since they are already thriving quite well in my living soil?

Thought I would give this a try.

Went over to a buddies place the other day and he showed me his 4' hash plant he had growing outside. I commented on the way he was trimming it and he said he wanted to keep it compact in circumference, but let it grow tall. He had trimmed each node just after the first set of leaves, and also...

Best use for fish head and guts?

So I'm going to go fishing this morning and catch me a few rainbow trout. What would be the best way to use the fish head, guts and tail after cleaning my fish? There is a lot of wildlife around my place so I have to be careful where I put them.

Rabbit and horse manure. Best way to utilize it?

Thanks Grease. I ended up making 13 different batches of soil the last couple months. A bit much I would say but I wanted to make sure I had enough for my 9 girls that are now outside. Uncle Ben's Topping Technique to Get 2 or 4 Main Colas

Hey Uncle Ben, I have some girls that I want to top to get 4 main colas. Problem is they are getting along with growth and they have around 8-9 nodes. Was hoping to get them planted outside today and top this evening. Is it still okay to top these girls above the 2nd true node? Here's a pic of a...

Any ideas on a good soil mixture for tomatos?

Yes, here's a pic of a couple bush beefsteak tomato plants in a 2 1/2 gallon bucket. The soil is a batch that I made up, and the tomato plants are the best they have ever been this early in the grow.

    Alkaline Water

I've read that if you're running an organic grow, then ph of your water is not that important. 9.5 is quite high, and bringing it down would help. Would the ph change if your tap water sat for a few days? My tap waters ph is 6.6, and the rain water is 6.7.

    First grow

Glad to have you on board Lusciousowner. All kinda depends on which way you wanna go. I personally prefer the organic direction for a couple reasons. Not smoking any chemicals, and organic pot is a much nicer high!! A good organic seedling mixture is 1/3 ewc, 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 perlite. Add...

    finally got me some comfry.

Went to my Mom and Dads today for a visit and asked my Dad if I can take some of his comfrey plant. Got the shovel out and dug up a good sized root ball. Took it home and planted it up on the rock wall away from any garden areas. Is there one type of comfrey that is better then others? Any guess...

    How's this for a base?

Thanks again guys!!! Much appreciated!!! Wet, I guess it makes sense that the rotted wood chunks would be more moisture then aeration. Grease, I used that exact mix for 3 tomato plants. Took 7.5 gallons of it for them. I'm playing with all kinds of mixes for my tomato plants, and a few diff...

So I started my seeds way to early again and my seedlings are getting along quite nicely. Got some fem seeds, 2 Maui Waui, Lemon Cake, OG's Kush and a Blueberry Gum. They have at least another 30 days inside before we can be safe from frost to move outdoors. I don't know if I should leave them...

    How's this for a base?

Hey Wet, does the horse manure and rotted wood chunks work as an aeration component? If not, would you suggest I add some vermiculite and perlite?

    How's this for a base?

Just went and mixed up another batch of living soil and was wondering what the gurus thought of this as a base? 3 gallons composted horse manure, 3 gallons rotted wood chunks, 2 1/2 gallons pro-mix growing medium, and 2 1/2 gallons ewc. Then I added: - .5 cup fishbone meal - .5 cup wood ash -...
