Do you add H2O2 to your water? It helps oxygenate the water, turns brown roots white. Considered by many as a necessity in hydroponics. Just 1-3 mls/gal depending on strength. I would direct the stream into the pebbles as opposed to the cube and feed often maybe even continuously.
