    Light penetration question

Well one is an LED and one an HID. I was thinking light is light and a given equal light intensity between 2 lights would at some point in the distance be equivalent since the speed that light travels is the same. I've heard that HID gives better penetration just dont really understand why.

    Light penetration question

Apologize if this is a newbie question but I'm trying to wrap my head around light penetration among various types of lights.. Does it make a difference in how much light the lower buds receive if the light intensity (ppfd) is the same at the top of the canopy? For example: Light A: Fluence...

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Thanks man! I like those northern grow lights. They provide a lot of PAR information on their site which I find most manufacturers dont provide, especially PAR measured across a given footprint. So can you explain the difference between the Bridgelux, Cree and Citizen LED arrays they offer...

    Optimal PAR for veg

I'm curious has anyone researched the ideal PAR for veg/seedlings? I've recently become fascinated by daily light integral, PAR, light footprints etc and am trying to create an ideal veg setup. I've seen 50 watts per square foot (35 for LED) thrown around for flowering but how about for veg?

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Do you mind explaining why Apollo is junk? I'm trying to figure out LED tech and getting confused.

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Bumping this up. Any of you guys using Apollo lighting still around? I've been researching LEDs and found this old thread. Curious if they still do customized spectrum building and how the ideal spectrum might have changed over the last 3 years.

    Cultivation Buisness Plan

My advice is familiarize yourself with how cannabis is currently grown but study agricultural farming for tomatoes etc. You can find plenty of info on that and it will allow you to borrow from ag farmers & implement a more sustainable business model. The problem with pot farmers, master growers...

moving to either washington or oregon. which is better for cannabis?

I believe oregon also has a micropressor license. For outdoor sites, the micro-canopy ceiling will be 5,000 square feet, and the indoor grows ceiling will be 1,250 square feet. As with other classes of licensure, the canopy measurement standard is “mature marijuana plants.” That means plants...

moving to either washington or oregon. which is better for cannabis?

Not sure about washington but I'd be very careful about attempting to grow for profit in oregon. Take a look at my posts in this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/in-growing-large.894937/ In a year or 2 I don't think there will be much opportunity for many oregon producers. Too much weed...

    $$in growing large

I think more or less it's like 600 microbreweries opening up in the state all the sudden. lol There will be some bigger companies that come in and put up 10,000 sq. ft greenhouses with supplemental light but they'd have to hold multiple licenses to scale up from that. It looks like most of the...

    $$in growing large

I believe what you mention is the future and that is controlled greenhouse growing. Indoor is just way too expensive and the popular opinion (whether real or not) is outdoor affects quality negatively. Sunlight provides better growth than any amount of artificial light and only in a controlled...

    $$in growing large

Curious if you decided to go ahead with your license? I've been researching the OR market and here is some interesting info. relevant to OR I've pieced together based on analyzing the WA market: Here is a very relevant paper on a study the University of Washington did...
