    what meter should i use?

I Use a Hanna pH and TDS meter, simple easy to use and for most instances well within the ball park of accuracy. I lean towards ease of calibration and use so both meters are hand held but sturdy models. Once I settled on a standardized fertilizer mix for my hydro set up I used the TDS meter...

Fox Farms fertelizers and pH levels

Hi, I've been using Fox farms for about a year now. I use about the same mixes in a hydroponic system and find the pH is around 6.8 when mixed with my tap water. You can get a basic 'drops' method pH test kit for next to nothing. Knowing your pH is important as you probably well know. Nutrient...

    hydroponic claypebbles

Hi, When 'new' I just rinse the dust off the expanded clay (hydroton) and use it as is no worries. When I recycle it though I rinse it and use a dilute bleach solution to sterilize them in, Then I rinse again and use the washed ones over and over. Note of caution, always let your clay pebbles...

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

Hi, Thanks for the response. I think you had it earlier when you suggested that the uptake of the plants was greater than I thought. pH meter is working, human operator is f*cking up. Looked in my note journal and saw I forgot to top off that reservoir. Big plan is to switch to Earth Juice...

StgeneZiz Round 2. WW + BW Cfl Bubbleponix grow closet!

Cooking thoughts: Save the early stuff if it's all cut and drying and cook it w/butter. Or steep a big spoonful of it in tea w/a little milk. You'll get longer effects as I imagine you probably already know. Little butter on a muffin before heading out to work and life seems a whole lot more...

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

Hi Thanks for the quick reply! I am seeing a drop from 6.5 to 4.0 in a day or less. I adjust it up using Mad Farmer UP, usually a couple of eye droppers full does it. I'm using Fox farms grow big and a dash of Big Bloom. In almost 4 gallons I add 4 tsp Grow Big and a tsp of Big Bloom, about half...

Hydroponics Question and Answer NewGrowth Style

If you're still taking posts I was wondering if you've had any pH issues when adding aeration stones to the nutrient reservoir. It seems that since I added aeration to my mother's bucket (about 3.5 gallons) the pH has dropped pretty quickly compared to without the stone. Is there a relation? I...

    Wilting leaves

Yeah, then I agree with your take on it....now one more thought....how are her roots developing? Often times a weak root system or under developed one will not be able to keep up with the evaporation demand put on it by a hotter light. (can you see hairs out of the drain hole in the pot yet?) I...

    Trichs in veg? picture

Hi, Only two out of all huh? The trich's may be a response to heat, are they closer to the lamp than the others? Vent fan doing it's job? What temps are you seeing in the tent? Could also just be a feature of the genetics of those plants. Looks like they've sexed clearly. Are all the other...

    Indoor 5X5 how many ladys?

ps...I get on average 1oz to 1.5 oz per plant, times 4 plants, harvested every two weeks, so about 10 to 12 ounces a month sometimes more. Planning on setting up a second closet with another 400watt HPS and about the same # of plants flowering....then maybe retire eh?! :-) Happy Gardening! GrowIT!

    Indoor 5X5 how many ladys?

Hi, Yes I think you could fit more but...Considering your tight space you might try this...Use 1 gallon square 'emily' pots, use expanded clay and start the clones in 3" rockwool cubes. The huge roots you get with the larger pots is great if you've got the space but otherwise I'd use smaller...

    Wilting leaves

Hi , No doubt you're right. Just wondering tho what your watering pattern is? Sometimes extra wet roots will cause leaf droop too. Did it perk back up after a while despite the heat and how hot was it anyway? Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

    *HELP* Proposed Closet Grow Set-Up

Hi, Keep things simple is my advice. Do a system in 2 rubbermaid totes, 2 plants each in 6 inch mesh baskets. Tote is the reservoir full of the nutrients for flowering. Hang a air cooled 250watt HPS light over them. Use a 4inch ducted in line fan connected to the light to remove air/odors & cool...
