I snipped it off. It was a small, deep interior flower by a 2nd cut (top) site. I noticed the discoloration during veg, so I believe it was just trauma scars. It was the only spot.

I had one last season and I got lucky to leave it out until first week of November. It really started budding hard mid September.

Fall will be more risky for you then. Even so, you are at least 200 miles south of me then, so less risk than me.

Where in Illinois? If you are within 20 miles of Lake Michigan, the lake is your friend in the fall. Keeps those frost at bay. In the spring, an absolute enemy!
