As title says, I have been thinking about what it would take to open up a dispensary, and someone suggested growing and selling to a dispensary, so it got me to thinking. With the current legal situations, states legalizing and federally still illegal, what is the safest route, legally?
I've wondered the same thing. It's probably pretty hard, with a huge initial investment required, to open a dispensary. License fees, taxes, required safeguards, and operating costs will eat you alive. Unless you can spare the huge startup costs and wait for the "marginal" profits to come in at a very moderate pace...
Every stupid 85-IQ pothead out there has dreamed of legalization so they can grow and make huge profits...
But what they fail to realize is that the US state governments will/have devised ways to get THEIR profit from the marijuana business, before you get yours...
License fees and taxes will be way too much for most people to afford.
Your best bet is to grow a quality product to sell to dispensaries...but to do that legally, there's still lots of costs involved...
My informed guess is that it will be tough for anyone to LEGALLY make money off of marijuana growing or selling...unless you have a BUNCH of money to invest, and can wait a LONG TIME to be repaid...
So go to college, get an engineering degree, and make money with a good old-fashioned job...
