I think I FIMed wrong

I FIMmed a few days ago but I'm pretty sure I did it wrong. I waited until I had 3 branches and snipped the 4th growth under two weeks, pretty sure I did it too early. It doesn't look like I'm getting 4 tops instead the branches are just growing out like normal except the leaves are cut in half. Any idea what I did wrong was I just too early? And how long until it recovers and I can try again? also look at my pudgy fingers hahahaha

hi, if you want 4 tops you can just pinch it off after the second internode. heres a thread about it https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/151706-uncle-bens-topping-technique-get.html. fimming is kinda random as far as results imo as its baisicaly cutting an internode in half so it heals funny. the ub topping method is totaly predictable. you can top whenever you want, but it will slow or stop growth for a few days afterwords. hth

You are aware that when you fim that the 2 tops don't form on the point you cut right? The 2 tops will be the inter nodes right before the part you cut and they will look normal until they start to out grow the rest of the branches.

I FIM the plant on the right (other one is LTS`d)



got 4 top from the new grow tip once it started to grow agin, before that I had 4 side shoots coming up, plus another 4 at the "bottom" so ended up with 12 top`s (the LST`d had 7)

cut around 80-90% of the new top grow, got some pictures but I dunno how clear they are for you ?

i think Slipon summed it up pretty good..
just remember u can't really fuck up FIM.. worst case u just have to go one step further and top it off..

if u never done it before i suggest watching a few vids on YouTube just so you'll know what to expect..

Oh I see now, nobody told me that bit. All the the videos I found just told me how to do it and that I would get 4 new tops but they didn't tell me where they come from. Thanks for the info.

It will give you 2 new tops the ones directly below the spot you cut...

Above the 2nd true node for 4, all others = 2.
But you can top the 2 to make 4 ect.

LOL Sorry for the incorrect i always assumed fiming was just another word for topping, i didn't realize it was a different technique that actually got you 4 tops, pretty cool though...
