I am about to buy a 250 watt light for my small grow tent. I am going to try a 12/12 from seed grow. I was just curious on how much a month would a 250 watt light would add to the electric bill here in california?
this ^^^^^^^^^no more than 20$/month.
damn you, lol.. you guess about $20 a month, i solve emc2 and get $20.25, lol.. nice one..no more than 20$/month.
oh snap, i missed that part in my last post.. you, that sounds about right to me as when i did it i was using 18 hours a day and not 12..he is doing 12/12 start to finish, i estimate around 14$
or this can be done by checking the labels of said electronic object, check the wattage, and use a calculator.I've found the easiest way to determine how much a device costs to run is to go to home depot (or wherever) and buy a killawatt ez, input the price per kwh and the device does the rest. best 30 bux you'll spend if you want to know info on your device.
a lot of things would have to be factored in, I just plug my entire tent into the killawatt, the tent power consumption varies as fans and lights cycle on and off, would be a lot of math. best hours I've saved.or this can be done by checking the labels of said electronic object, check the wattage, and use a calculator.
best 30$ ive ever saved, (not being a dick and sorry if it comes off like that id prefer friends and not enemies)
This is best to get an accurate reading.I've found the easiest way to determine how much a device costs to run is to go to home depot (or wherever) and buy a killawatt ez, input the price per kwh and the device does the rest. best 30 bux you'll spend if you want to know info on your device.
thank you very much. This is best to get an accurate reading.
The ballast consumes power on top of what the bulb consumes. Most people say it's about 10-15% of the bulbs total wattage being consumed
by the ballast itself on top of the 250w going to the bulb.
So according to that, the max wattage used by the system would be about 290w
I just use a usage calculator instead of calculating it manually.
You get your electricity tariff from the bill they send you in the mail
and enter it all into the calculator. My tariff is $0.21 per kW an hour.
It would cost me a max of $20 a month to run a 250w lamp 12 hours
a day.
