95 degree temps!

6x3x8 grow closet with a window on the end of it and a door on the other end like a tunnel.

Normally i run around 80-85 degrees and 50-60% humidity.

Unfortunately i use the window as passive intake with a fan in my area.

Temperatures are hitting upper 90s in my area (in october )

Not helping the matter - its my flower room. 600w HPS with 440 inline and pulling a carbon filter.

i know the 600w is a little large for this area but ive been able to successfully sustain reasonable temps with it before.

I've been watering heavily to keep it cool. is there anything i should worry about or anything fairly easy and cheap i could do to help this! its in my attic!

currently the light is on and the window is wide open with some reflective material blocking the light, its rigged so that it still intakes air and i have a fan now just inside the room to help cycle air.

Put in some frozen 2L water PET bottles for free humidifier and lowerd temps. just remember to swap them when necessary

and get some better ventilation. at least a regular tablefan inside the growroom. it will save you some trouble

i have a fan in there in front of the window and a oscillating fan exhausting the room. all the windows are open in the attic (6) and the grow room is completely open. i gotta cool it down bad lol

If your outside temps are rising causing problems, I would suggest switching your fans and pulling the cooler house air into the attic.
You are already working against yourself since heat rises, but it should do you better than running around carrying blocks of ice and watching your humidity.
Also, if you plan to use the attic again, you might consider an attic fan, you know the spinning things seen on top of some houses............

I will be looking into the attic fan, i just didnt expect 98 degrees in OCTOBER! says 40 degrees on saturday.... wtf?

ONE MORE THING. my light cycle is 12/12 starting at 12 pm and ending at 12 am while im at work. i didnt think about the temps being a problem with winter coming.... is there a way to..

Switch from 12 pm - 12 am to 12 am - 12 pm without completely ruining my plant's cycle? so the lights heat runs at the coolest times and off during the warmest. it sounds likes hermies waiting to happen

i just completely took the rig off the attic window and it seems to have dropped the temperature 8 degrees so far. and its a lot more airy!

You can switch the 12/12 time period to revolve around where lights on when its coolest at night for your passive intake and off during increasing temperature climbs. I have done that before because a timer failed. I did not have any hermie issues. Hermies are dependant on actual genetics of plants for instance chocolate tai plants regardless what you do or do not do have a predisposition of hermaphroditism. Also hermies depend on the stress you have put on the plant during your entire growth cycle..i.e topping causes stress, transplanting for examples. Now the issue could be how many days have your plants been enduring those high temperatures if it is one day then and you didnt do high stress training or did not disrupt the root ball if you transplanted then you should not have hermies but you have the actual genetics of plants to consider as well. If it were me in your case I would do the other methods that people suggested to you drop your temperatures and with your next cycle of flowering change it. Just a thought temperatures that are consistently above 90 degrees will begin to stunt growth and if it occurs too long can acutal cause no growth at all in an indoor setting.

great! only lst and super cropped in special situations. now as far as that light cycle change goes... u said next cycle of flowering to change it? u mean like my next flower batch or tomorrow. should i keep it going till 12 (its 320 now) or should i turn it off now and start it back up for a 12 am -12 pm. or should i let it run through this whole cycle (12pm-12am) and actually keep going with it (12am-12pm) and stop it at 12pm and restart the cycle at 12 am-12pm and keep it that way for the rest of the grow. i worry about these temperatures and would like it optimal!

You didn't mention that you had more than one window up there.........
Do you cover the windows on the sunny side (follow the sun) with a curtain or blinds? That will help keep some of the heat out.
I think if you're worried about hermies, adjust your timer ahead or back an hour or two every couple days.
Plants don't know what time zone they're in, just how long the day is.

all the windows are open and they have blinds i suppose i could put down but i have all the windows open for cross ventilation. im doing a small grow of 5 (2x blackjack 2x ww and 1 seed i forgot about, idk what strain anymore) to try out theses temps up here. i believe that once this winter really kicks in, it will be a decent grow space. when it cools off ill try a bigger grow.

as far as changing the time, i said fuck it and just straight up changed it. one of the plants has....



just in that small spot. i know a little N abundance. i am no longer feeding as much N, its been 2-8-4 since flowering. and the leaves didnt seem to get any lighter late in veg when i really tried to cut back on some N and get this under control.

REGARDLESS i am curious of that leaf at the time, its that my infamous heat stress?

o btw the frozen bottles really helped. i put them behind a fan. therm says 79 degree when i had it flowering at night (including a slight temp drop, was still a hot night tho)

in the winter when temps are getting colder cant you just move your intake so that it sucks from the inside of your house to the attic and then out? but i have no experience in loft/attic growing since i always used tents. Listen to imchucky, he knows his shit .

the problem is how am i going to get this (which is in the center of the attic) to > inline fan > hps > carbon filter > outside

or carbon filter > hps > inline > outside. should i just sit the filter inside this vent? duct to hps, duct to filter and just push outside? i feel as tho when you every my house you will be able to tell. sacrifices i suppose

maybe something like this with the inline fan behind it pulling air up? i think you could get it preatty silent with some ducting + isolating.
You need a sepparate fan to pull out the air. like this House -> intake -> grow room and then another for Carbon filer -> FAN -> cooltube or hood -> Out

To change the light cycle, run the light 24hrs, then 12hours dark, then continue with 12/12. It's the dark hours that count, the flowering hormones are produced and used if there is 12 or more hours of dark

Use a more suitable time when temps are cooler 7pm-7am is always a good one........... how long you been in flower?
