Spray paint vs painting with a brush??

Are there any advantages to either method? Would regular paint out of a can applied with a brush reflect better or will spray paint do just as good?

Im painting the inside of a small grow cabinet about 3 x 3 x 1.5 ft

Brush paint is much cleaner for indoor use or on any non perfect surface. I feel like the spray always leaves a dust behind, and the surface never feels that smooth after. Just make sure you use a flat white. What Capt. sticky said about anti-microbal sounds real good, I never really thought of that. But definitely flat finish, no satin or glossy. I think my basement was flat white because that was the color of the cinder-block sealant, so I just kept it as is.

thx roidrage ..... thats exactly what they told me at the store too, i just got back home with a can of flat white paint and a cabinet paint roller and a small brush lol. Im gonna go paint this thing now...my cab is so close to being complete =D

i wouldnt use spray paint because of the toxins that get released into the air even after the paint is dry. have you ever painted a room in your house with spray paint?? and you can still smell it months after its dry?? i wouldnt want my plants soakin all that up. anyways best of luck bro. happy growing and as always, stay smokey :leaf:

fuck my life.............. painting the inside of the doors of the cab warped them so now they dont close flush against the rest of it... just when i thought it was complete.... why me

what type of door is it? is it made of hard wood or a cardboard box?

paint did not warp a 3/4" hard wood board. check for debris, trash, that may have stuck to the paint and hinder door closing. Did you take the door off then paint it? if so you may need to readjust the hinges.

if its particle board it might would warp pretty easily but any other type of plywood especially at 3/4 inch shouldnt warp. you sure its 3/4 and not 3/8??

So yeah...paint will definitely warp a 3/4 inch piece of wood if you paint only one side. Maybe not a 3/4 inch thick plywood but this is 3/4 inch thick pine that absorbed the paint and made it expand on the paint side stretching it and therefore compressing the other side. It's a bit better now 12 hrs later, I guess the paint dried up a bit more. There are still a small gaps on top and on bottom... I saw a roll of this black insulation stuff at Walmart...I think it will do the trick

loook i know all about bent wood
with weather of winter and letting one side breathe and other not it will warp like crazy
