Looking At the Real cost of pot .I am in Calif you can get indoor GDP WW any Kusch for 100 all day I think it takes 1008 hr of light from clone to bud and if you can get .75 gram per watt. That has a value of $ 3.50 a gram And it cost .15 per kilowatt what will be the real cost per gram. How would you find the true cost

i agree, but im not sure if hes trying to find the cost it took to grow the bud or how much its actually worth.

because no matter how much you put into the grow, the bud's worth is only based on the quality of the final product.

how much are you getting for 100 OP?

My time is pretty expensive, I darn sure get paid for it.

Actually, the total cost on my operation is $75/ounce. If the entire crop were sold each harvest I would be at the break even point. No stash left for me.

Even does not buy food, gas, or lodgings. It does take into account depreciation of growing equipment and disposables (rockwool, nutes, etc).

It would cost considerable less in a warm climate without 3000 miles of shipping on every item used.

My little cupboards cost £25-£30 a month to run together, 3 months from clone to harvest, £5 for nutes, £80 a harvest. My cupboard can yield me in the area of 15 ounces if i do one big run properly (DWC scrog) 80 / 18 = £5.33-£6.33 an ounce or there abouts. Keep it simple and things stay cheap :) My lights and everyting paid themselves off years ago, so now the only cost is electricity and nutes, water is free.

your getting a GDP of kush for $100? At any rate, I think you are vastly underestimating the cost and value of the product... you must be a patient in Oregon LMFAO. Any product has a production and distribution cost. In addition, the free market dictates that higher quality products fetch higher prices as they are in higher demand and there is less of them.

So in terms of cost inputs you need to add the following to your list:
There are start up costs:
lights
ballasts
ducting
fans
air conditioners
controllers
co2 dispensers
containers--lots of them for you soil types
watering and spraying utensils
ph and ppm meters
hand lenses
shop vac
hoses and fittings (for you hydro guys)
RO water filtration system
air pumps, water pumps, air stones, etc
dehumidifier
dixie cups, cloning light, warming trays, humidity dome...all that $10-$20 shit that adds up.

To a newb growing 2 plants in a tent it would seem like overkill but someone growing 12+ large plants with high quality results will be shaking their head uh huh, uh huh. My 4k watt grow room = $7,000

Then there are fixed costs: ergo.. how much power does it take to RUN all that gear.
If your running 4k or more watts in a sealed room then you have at least another 2k watts (if not more) in fans, AC, dehumidifiers, pumps, etc.

Now there are the variable costs: in this case I look at consumables..ie you use them and its done.

Soil and or other substrate
cloning gel
nutrients.. and nutrients are fucking EXPENSIVE. Go buy 6 months worth of quality nutrients for a 75 gallon rez..your in the $500 range.

And finally.... MY TIME. I don't grow weed because I need to not have any free time in my life. Growing buds, allot of them, is almost a full time job, at least 20 hours a week. Those without lots of plants don't realize how long it takes to clone, trim, train, mix nutes, monitor conditions, harvest, trim, dry, weigh, bag, etc etc etc. Good growers possess a specific skill set, and those skills have a monetary value. Just like anything else. You want a cheap ass lawyer out of the yellow pages or the best guy in the city charging $300 an hour. I have tried both, trust me, you want the latter.

So yeah, $3.50 a gram is a pretty much bulllshit figure.

costs me about 20 bucks an ounce to grow it. not inc my wage for time. price wont reflect what it cost to grow it. price reflects how greedy they are or the market value. usualy guys that dont charge an average as others dont last to long. someone will pay a visit and do something about it eventualy....unless you can keep it low key

in buiness we cant charge the customer for the tools or equipement. just operating costs/. well we can but anyone that has owned a bizz usualy dosent
other wise i think wally world would cost a hella lot more due to huge building costs and wages and so on. they have more buildings and shipping than say a small store but they charge less for the products they sell.

What if the former is in fact the latter bit simply with the desire to do good things as opposed to make good money? ;) And $300 an hour, i wouldn't have that amny expectations for that lawyer :p

then we have the disspensary ...a non profit apperently operation. but they pay themselves 40 an hour to weight weed and drop in bags...wtf is that. no wonder the rip off costs at the shops. what happened to the compassion they hide behind to get involved in this in the first place.

This is Alaska, it is below zero most of the year. Right now it is -11 F I have 7 hours of daylight and losing 6 minutes a day.
Every single item needed for living or growing or anything at all has to be flown or barged 3000 miles to the coast then put on a train to the interior.
Electricity is over .23 dollars/kw and it is adjusted up with diesel price fluctuations.
I buy water at $.05/gallon, delivered water is three times that.

That $75/oz is an average since 1998, lights, timers, fans, tables, containers, all these things wear out with time and must be replaced. Quality items cost more.

I have 19 light fixtures, not counting the 8 spotlight CFL's. 17 fans and separate timers for all of them.
Consistant heat is a problem, as is zero relative humidity all winter.

I would love to live in California and grow almost free pot, but that is not the way it is for me.
