Best way to setup my bedroom for veg / flower / clones / dry chamber

Hi all! So, I started growing and even though it takes alot of work and patience, decided I really enjoy doing it... so I want to expand.

I see the room as a blank canvas and I'm totally open to ideas folks! :D

Right now, the plan is to have separate areas for veg, flower, cloning, and dry area.

Currently what I've got is:

- DR80 tent with:
- 400w CMH air cooled ( to be used as veg / mom / possibly clone? area)
- carbon filter (about 24" x 15")
- 450cfm fan for exhaust on DR80

I was thinking to buy a bigger tent dedicated for flowering, but I'm not sure what size exactly...possibly DR240 (8' x 8')?

Right now I'm soil, but would like to transition to hydro so this setup needs to accommodate for that. I was thinking to do SOG (although I'm growing White Fire which stretches ALOT).

I guess my questions more or less for now is to figure out what lighting I should buy for future plans for now.

How much would it cost to put in LED lighting that would equate to a 600-1000w HPS?

Right now, I'm looking at LED's or 600w HPS or 1000w HPS with supplemental CMH / UVB / LED lighting.

Any input is greatly appreciated!!

I have two flower areas in my room. One is a 36"x20" cab with a 400w HPS and the other is a 48"x24" tent with a 600w HPS. Since the flower areas are already setup for air flow and odor control, all I do is turn off the light and you have your drying chamber.

Thanks for the response... Why do you have 2? Just for more harvests? What do you do about your mothers / clones / veg ? Now, what I'm thinking is to build 1 flower tent (in same room) next to my mother / veg tent. I would put 1 600w or 1 1000w HPS and then suppliment with led or cmh and uvb.

My mother room is really what I'm not sure about... Currently my veg/mother tent is a DR80 tent with 400w CMH. I was thinking to move that CMH to the flower room to suppliment and use something like cfl's or fluros as veg/mother room. Would that work? Also, what about clones... can I just directly stick them in the veg/mother room or is better to have them separate?

Mainly I just like to experiment and two flower areas gives me more flexibility. I'll be more willing to take chances knowing if I screw a grow I have the other one going as backup. I will also let me play around with more strains. I just ordered some new seeds and one of the free promo seeds is an autoflower. I can grow the autoflower in one cab with the lights on 20/4 and still have my other flower area at 12/12.

I don't want my mothers growing, just staying healthy. If I need to put some quick growth on I can always move it to the veg area for a week or so.

What I'm thinking now is to have my veg either out in the open or using my DR80 tent... and use veg for clones/mothers (3 mothers)/ veg and using 2' or 4' T5's.

Then I would use a much bigger flower area setup my 400w CMH AND a 600w HPS or 1000w HPS.

Then I would have a separate room for drying that would tie into my CF. I would use my flower chamber for this, but I want to constantly put new stuff in flower so I can't just turn the lights out?

Would a 2' 4 bulb be enough for clones/mothers? Or 4' needed?

Also, should I get 1 600w HPS or 1000w HPS for my new flower room?

And I'm assuming the outlets in my rooms will be enough to handle the power needed (T5's, 1x 400w CMH, 1x digital 1000w HPS, 1x dehumidifier, 1x 450cfm fan)?

Hey Dimy! Good to hear you love growing so much! It is so much fun! Ok now to the good stuff... First off are you planing on doing a perpetual grow? I would guess so if thats why you want different rooms. You dont have to keep a monther if you dont want to, all you have to do is take cutting from the plant while its vegging. Some people like to have the mother but its not needed. Really just up to you. Your 2' bulbs should be fine for your mother/clones.

How many plants are you going to flower at once? Also if you plan to use a sog you will need as much space as possible (if your doing a lot of plants). If you only have a few I would suggest scrog or suppercroppn. If you dont mind the power bill and can get rid of the head then go with the 1000w light. Make sure you get a digital ballast. They run much quieter and just run better all around.

No way no how can one room handle the power you are talking about (if you live in the states). Go into your circuit breaker and look for your rooms outlet breaker. Im betting is a 15amper. Im thinking it could run the 400w, t5's, fan and depending on the draw, the dehumidifier. Check out the tag on the dh and it should let you know the draw. I think the 1000w draws around 9 amps alone.

So those are my thoughts. time to toke toke toke!!!

I want to kind of work up to perpetual...starting small (1 clone/veg/mother tent, and 1 flower tent). Eventually I will probably transition to hydro when I get the hang of it...but for now soil.

All breakers in my house are at least a 20a (the number 20 and up written on ALL breakers in my breaker box) so I'm assuming 20a and NOT 15a, correct?? If this is not the case, I will just install 2 more 20a breakers and run new wiring to a receptacle in the room...

So, assuming 20a breakers ... that would be: 1.5a (450cfm fan) + 4a (400w ballast) + 9a (1000w HPS) OR 5a (600w HPS) + 6.8a (dehumidifier) + T5's + miscellaneous = hmm about 20a it looks like. I guess either way no matter what light I use, need to install more 20a breakers...?

Well if you go with a sog and 1000w light I would say 16 plants would be the max. 1000w light is good for a 4x4 area. If you wanted to fill your 8x8 flower room I would recommend going with the 600w and working your way up to (4)600w and have 64 plants rotating 16 every few weeks or 8 every week or however you want to do it.

Nice you have 20 amp breakers! Thats sweet. Cheap asses around here lol. So you might be able to get away with it but I always learned to keep the lights on different curcuits "just incase". Its aways good to be on the safe side with fire starting crap. Another thought is to run 220v to your room if you plan on it getting bigger.

ok going to start shopping for 600w and tent. should I flower out in the open room (if I can make completely dark)? or get a flower tent? If I get a BIG flower tent, will my 450cfm fan be able to pull air through big tent to cool 600w and then have a Y duct to pull air through CF and into attic?

I would just flower in the room. Save space by not having another tent. The only thing to really stress is to keep it as clean as possible! Put 10mil plastic down and maybe repaint the walls. Im just all about being super clean! Bugs and shit can ruin you so fast! Yes it would need darkness. I think the 450cfm fan would be good for your veg/mother tent but you will need a bigger one for the flower. To find out how big of a fan you need you need to figure out how many sq feet are in your room and how many cfm it will take to exchange the air in 5 minutes. I dont recommend using a Y as you will be suckin more on one end then the other. Are you just useing your window as the intake?

That's why I was thinking a tent might be better... I can just link the 2 tents together with a Y and ducting with a CF on exhaust... As it is, my 450cfm sucks the crap outta my tent (even with CF attached). The other thing is, I won't need a fan or ducting for that matter powering the veg/mother tent I don't think because I'm going to switch to T5's for lighting those. I will then keep them in the same tent or just put the veg stuff out in the open.

Whereas if I use open room for flower there are a couple other issues I have to worry about that I wouldn't have to if I had a flower tent in the room. I would have to worry about smelly air in the rest of house, bugs/bacteria, and getting a bigger exhaust fan..

Plus, right now I'm just getting 1 600w HPS (most likely) and I will move my 400w CMH into flower tent also. So both those lights dedicated to flower. I will at 1st only put 5 plants into flower, then eventually start putting clones in. I think those 2 lights only in flower should be good for at least 3-5 months just for those few plants?

My intake right now is just whatever air is coming through the ac ceiling vent and the cracks in the door to the room. And I do have the window open alot, but not all the time...

thats why as i said in my post"Good Green Needs Good Friends" as if your involved in to many stages in the one place your penalty should the worst happen is more severe for only persuing a hobby which our planet supplys mmm mind fuk

Well I'm growing White Fire strain...they grow tall and stretch 3-4x in flower.

For 1st 5 in flower, I will probably top... then the plan is to throw 15 clones into flower and probably just let them grow straight up for SOG 1 cola style growing (for more space). Although I can't find much info on how this strain does with SOG or single cola space style grows?

But that was my plan for now so more space up top is kinda important unless i want to top / lst.

Well I assum youre talking about "the white" or are you talking about white strains in general? i was reading "the white" that's used in white fire (the white x fire og) doesn't stretch and grows short. it's the fire og dom phenos that grow tall. i'm not sure how they will do with their height in flower, but i hope well, cause I really want to try this strain!!
