Due to various reason we need to get our home appraised which include a guy going through our house to check around to determine the homes value.

Question is this, I have 6 plants in a closet 1 month into flowering. I am in washington state and am not a medical patient as of now. Would it be ok/legal if I posted my uncles paper work up on my closet grow? Does this make me a care giver? He will vouche for me. Is this all I need to be legally growing?

Also if anyone has had an appraisal before, how invasive are they? Will he go in every closet of every room? Please help RIU!

Well he is getting divorced right now...so not gonna work. As he described it to me last night if he put his paperwork on my grow room I. Am his caregiver and its therefore legal. Plus they are 36 days into flowering.
Thanks for the advice tho!

I had my place appraised recently, and they did look at every room, every closet. I can't answer the paperwork issue, but yeah, the appraisers are usually pretty thorough.

Alrighty, thanks grumpy. He is very certain that it makes me his legal caregiver. Plus I'm under half the legal number in my state.

I'd still move them.

My house had an appraisal years ago before i moved & i kid you not; a few vans pulled up and like 20-30 ppl got out and went through the house.

the searched better than the cops do! the look virtually EVERYWHERE inside & out. they even peak in the attic/crawl spaces!

since you're not legal i'd move them...you never know what could happen if you dont. one may decide to call the cops anyway (whether you have paperwork or not, it does happen)

i say better safe than sorry. i'd try moving them. if you dont have an suv (or access to one) i'd rent a small u-haul truck, the smallest one they have with a roll up door...not the pickup obviously (the go for only $20-30 a day) & bam. put ur plants in there & all equipment. let them do their appraisal and when they leave put em back = problem solved and you stayed safe!

not too expensive either. i think you should do something like that. (just my 2 cents)

i like the van idea too
get them out. clean and touch up all paint.

you want everything to be like a model home when you get appraised.

No we want the appraisal lower than the citys curb side appraisal. Fuck alright. So even tho he makes me his caregiver you all still don't think its chill to leave 6 plants? Wa state law max is 15. I'm not even at half.

better to move now than to worry about the cops, or your plants being destroyed. I'd suggest putting them in garbage cans but 6 is quite a bit.

yeah dude. move em. you don't know those people coming to appraise your home. you have NO IDEA if they'll be totally chill about it or go outside and dial the police...or tell someone about it and have someone come back later to rip you off (ie steal your plants). you dont even wanna deal with that hanging over ur head until harvest.

best to either rent a uhaul or van...that way all your plants, grow equipment, etc can be stored safely and they wont think nothing of it :)

also ive done the same thing (so don't feel bad about it) when ive had to have professionals come over for various work. it was a pain in the ass and took forever (my set up is a bit bigger than urs) but at least when they came i was relaxed and not worried about cops or being ripped off at a future date (and im legal in my state btw!)

Damn you all are scaring me. In his paper work a page is included that we both sign and makes me his caregiver. In washington state this is legal. I guess I'm just lokking for another washington patient/caregiver that can confirm or deniy that this paper work will protect me home. Also I'm not renting.

And its not a bunch of people coming. Its one lady. The 6 plant closet grow is for my uncle who is a washington state medical patient. The paper work is now on the wall stating that I am his LEGAL medical provider. This is not good enuf? All the patients locally that I have spoken to say that I am legally within my rights. No wa patients here that can confirm?

I am also sure that they are not as intrusive as some people have made it seem here. I know it is one person who comes in to just check the general condition of the home. Already made the appointment with the lady that is coming.

All this being said the inspection is next Thursday. I may still give into paranoia (even tho it will be legal!) And box them up or somthing. It just sucks that I am less than a month untill crop time! Boxing them up for the time it takes to have the inspection and the re asemble of the set up (admitedly only a 6 plant closet grow) will surley shock the crap out of my late flowering girls! For when I box them and remove them from the cool, ducted air cooled environment they will be in 90 degree temps with how hot it is. I'm so sad! Should I not feel protected by the law from this home appraiser?

I will keep you all updated. Thanks for the support and advice.

Im glad we're scaring you. we're trying to help you out before you get ripped or land in jail. they WILL search every piece of the house. thats how they give an accurate appraisal. if they didnt need a detailed walk-through appraisals could be done simply by the owner submitting pics of their home.

So they/she/he/it will see it.

Sure theres a chance they could see the paperwork, say to themselves, "oh he's legal...no worries"

OR

the could PRETEND its all ok...then soon as they leave call the cops and say someone is growing mj.

From what i understand you don't have paperwork...just your uncle (or whoever you said you were growing for...right?) well even if you do its still best to air on the side of caution and hide them in a van/u-haul. its arguably the safest way to go.

this way you don't have to worry. growing is still in a grey area with the medical mj state laws vs. the federal laws. granted they probably wont turn you into the feds over 6 plants but they COULD still ruin your day/life. they can take you away if they want. we've all seen threads before about how someone had their paperwork...had a legal grow going on...still got their crop destroyed and/or arrested.

please don't think a medical card/paperwork is gonna save you in the end.

you still have to treat this as its illegal (if you plan to have any chance of good luck coming your way).

when it comes to growing theres a lot more that can go wrong vs. go right.

im just telling you what i'd do/have done so i believe its the best advice.

Also if you're gentle when you move the plants the wont suffer and real stress/damage (speaking from experience)

also the short stay in the dark wont affect the too much. one shakeup of your light schedule wont shock them hardly at all (never effected mine much at all).

So I'm gonna just box em up and put them in the shed out back during the inspection. My setup is super small so ill just bring my tomaotes from outside und put em under the light so it looks like I grow tamatoes and herbs (legal ones for cooking) that's not illegal to grow.

I just hope it doest got super hot in the shed like it will on hot days...may put ice packs in the box with each plant to keep it cool.
