i tried to grow some canteloupe's last year, but didn't have any luck with them, i was soo let down as i absolutely love them.. always have great luck with zuchinni and squash though and we make zuchinni bread all summer long.. soo yummy, i know it sounds nasty, but trust me, put some chocolate chips in there, and yummo, lol..

i wish i had room for watermelon and pumpkin's as well.. i've only got a small plot as is now though..

just how much room do you have april, lol... sounds like an awesome garden though..

baker creek.com i do believe.. someone else on here had recommended them in the past, and i bookmarked the page when they did, and i have to say, they have a huge amount of seeds that were fairly cheap, and the shipping was super quick as well.. i was pretty happy with them overall..

jesh.. sounds like something i'd love.. i love the outdoors and enjoy going fishing when i get the chance.. don't eat what i catch though, strictly catch and release, but i find it very relaxing to smoke a bowl or two and go out and go fishing..
i was even just looking at getting a tandem kayak for my nephew and i to go out on ... i would kill to have a nice pond in my yard.. sounds awesome..

you're a canuck ehh april? i think i would love canada other then the winters up there, as i'm sure they get entirely tooo cold for my likings, but there is some amazing land up that way for sure.. i'd love to live on one of those lakes that you can only access via float plane..i get that part of me from my mom.. she loves to go with me when i go fishing and just sit and knit or read or what have you and watch the wild life and all..

I was actually going to start a thread on what people might be planting this year around their babies for cover so to speak. I hear ducks foot is good and the scent of kitchen herbs and vegetables, no need to mention the obvious raspberry and other prickly bushes. I tried growin a few tomatoes last summer to disguise my girl on the deck and it worked pretty good, but then it got me thinking about just makin a vegetable garden out back and throwin a couple short girls in the middle when they get big enough. any thoughts on the subject? im tryin to make a list for home depot lol, pleasee keep in mind im on the 45th parallel up here in canada.

damn, your up there, lol.. i'm sure they have some fast finishers though.. just have to look around.. kinda like the autoflower's of the tomato world, lol.. not sure what to recommend though.. i know that like grape tomato's finish pretty quick, cucumber's do well in the cooler weather, and like zuchinni and the like seem to like the cooler weather more so then the heat of dead summer around here..
i never seem to have much luck with eggplant's for some odd reason though, and i'd probably stay away from things like pumpkins and big melons in your area as i would think frost would hit well before they are finished, but not positive on that.. i know that april said she does pumpkins i think, and i think she's in canada as well.. you just need a lot of land for then and i've only got a small patch in my backyard..

and damn, i always thought that weed seeds were tiny, i couldn't believe how tiny the seeds are for tomato's, holy effing poo, itsy bitsy... wayyyy small.. i put a couple in each hole just hoping that one or two of them would pop..
the pepper seeds were pretty much what i was expecting them to look like, just like what you see inside of a pepper, lol, but damn, tomato seeds are fawking small as poo..

Sure am, i'm about 2 hrs east of Toronto, but my temps are already ok, last night it stayed nice and the temps stayed above freezing, should be aroun 5 celcius minimum all week, i don't have a clue what paralell i'm at lol? But i do start stuff indoors, started last week, we get about 4 months of summer weather

Northernbandit first i love your avatar lol me and the man died laughing when we watched that episode lmfao
Second i suggest starting your seeds inside and transplanting, muchkin broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cuccumbers, beans of all kind, potoatoes, carrots ,herbs, u have lots of choices, just look at the seed packs and see how long they need and if a light frost will hurt them, u can also google " veggies i can grow in ....." most places have a local site that indicates what u should plant when. In canada try cablepulse24, it's city tv. Stay away from things that need lots of heat, peppers, mellons, fruits, well pumpkins can take the frost, hope it all works out!!!!!

yeah, wait till you see lettuce seeds and some others, they are all smaller than canna seeds. I grow veggies and I think canna seeds are huge(except for peas, beans and morning glorys)
If Canadian I think you could be growing bush or pole beans, peas of any variety(I like snap and snow peas), cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, spinach. Tomatoes.....if you have a protected sunny site you could probably do it.
Good luck, I love my veg garden, and so do the bugs. It's a constant battle. I'm trying neem oil this year

i just checked my area the other day and i think it said i'm either 37 or 39, forget which one now, lol.. but it gets warm here all summer, even get maybe a month that never dips below 90 if its a hot one... i don't love summer per se, but i do enjoy having the seasons, i like change i guess you could say... by the time the middle of summer rolls around, i'm ready for fall, and by the time winter is half over, i'm ready for spring.. never really look forward to winter very much though tbh, but i can't imagine christmas time being warm though...
