I can imagine it would be me is the crux.

If I am brave enough to expose wrongdoing and man enough to face the life long incarceration for my beliefs then I may be a villain to some and a hero to another but I have the honor of being a man of Conscience.
Any Prisoner of war knows that there is little honor in the mistreatment of POWs for either side of conflict.

Don't we want to be told what he did.. Don't we want to know what the actual damage is before we start the punishment phase?
At this point he is a political prisoner of war and that war is what is being covered up by mistreatment of manning.

I doubt we understand what was being kept secret or if it should have been secret and that is what should be on trial first. Manning should be treated fairly.

Just put yourself in that cell.. Do you deserve clothes? Do you deserve equality with other prisoners? Should your guards be allowed to be your punisher?

By isolating those two statements from my entire post, you ignored the following statement:

I was not aware.

He is subject to due process under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Now I am not going to comment on the revolts either way except to say people have died. And now WE have another war, I mean KINETIC military action , on our hands.

If he is convicted, I hope they apply the full measure of the law to him short of the death penalty; which I oppose.

But I do hope they lock him up with the Unabomber. Imagine being subjected to the mad ravings of that crazy fuck and not be able to leave.

I am reluctant to comment on the revolts because they are still playing out. They are erupting everywhere all over the Muslim world. We may not know the results for years. In many cases we are not even sure who the major players are. Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Al Queda fighting with the rebels in Libya.

The price of oil is very high as a direct result of these revolts. This will further disrupt our economy.

After watching the PBS video I wonder if this odd ball of a solder is the actual leaker or if he is just the most obvious person to blame.
PBS points out that Mr Manning displayed behaviour that should have been of concern but yet his Security clearance was maintained.
So what if.. What if he is the fall guy? What if the Leaks are really something our Government did to effect political ends?

Perhaps Mr. Manning leaked half a million pieces of data or maybe he is a pawn.
We just don't know yet.

So if there is to be a Court of public opinion let us not hang him just yet.

True how do we really know this is a Man who decided to leak a bulk download who probably couldn't know the extent of what the data contained because, frankly, it's taken the News media and people around the world to sort through it.

Manning looks to be an eccentric type. A man who would find himself alone as he got old. I can identify so i have some concerns as to how this came to happen.

What has this done for political effects? Are we not watching the greatest regional change in our history?

If we use the Rosenbergs as an example we find that our Nations most important secrets make it ti the enemy. A Security rating far far far above what Mr Manning had and yet a watch maker, his wife and others are able to out wit our best Security efforts.
The Net result is the American people have someone to blame for another country becoming a nuclear power. Political Comfort Food for us all to enjoy as the jury in the court of public opinion.

So indeed there is enough for us to hold off on the execution.

IMO the government could give a shit less if torture is "Legal" or not, when has a legality ever stopped them? Hell they don't even have to arrest you or charge you anymore to send you to prison for life. No judges, no lawyers, no trial, just life imprisonment for the accused.

As embaressed as I am to say this,I recently lost my youngest son,no trial no proof no evidence or nothing threw family procedings.Apparently im likely to emotionaly neglect him over the rest of his child hood. They work on the likely hood of you doing some thing and what so called proffesionals say,no 2nd opinions,these very proffesionals have target goals to meet for bonuses,they have breached my sons human rights under sec 8 that he should be allowed contact with his siblings and family. I am a victim of what they call forced adoption and adoption targets. Were the only country in the world that snatches children away from parents who want them but due to financial circumstances cant afford to fight off the government = forced adoption,you are guilty til proven guilty as there is no system like criminal proceedings,in a nutshell your fucked from every angle. Our government is corrupt to the core,its all about making money,meeting targets and controling the public. They say prison is not a punishment (punishing is illegal),it is reabilitation,I been to prison many times and many different ones,locked in a cell 23h a day is IMO punishment,there is no rehabilitation,its all about making money and control. We go prison while peados get bail!!!!!!!!!! If your poor and fighting a case,you are 80% likely to lose and go jail. 98% of people who go to familly proceedings lose there children!!! They can hold anyone for as long as they want EVEN if you are found innocent at trial, its Obama's newest Executive order signed into law March 11. So it matters not if he is found guilty or innocent, he will be locked up forever. Obama calls it "Extended Detention".
