Taken in abused plant XD

My friend gave me a plant today and he didn't really know how to grow. The plant's been growing on his windowsill and is definitely a female (it's had long periods of darkness and I can see pistils). I want to veg it again however because it's had all of its leaves apart from the top ones cut off... (wasn't me) it's around 8" tall here's a pic.

My questions are, will the leaves grow back from the old node sites and how should I go about returning the plant to health because I assume it's been stressed a lot.

Wow. I wouldn't plan on those leaves growing back but I would plan on getting a fan on that bitch. Stiffen her up, free plant make her look sexy. Maybe some lipstick. You could probably find my hotdog between them buns aint gonna lie.

Sorry, Its the blunt gettin to me ^.^

thanks for the replies guys, I'll let you know how it goes after following GeeTee's advice :)

EDIT: Any advice on the wilted leaves? I suspect it's over-watering but the friend told me he'd not watered it for quite a while and the soil did seem dry.

I wouldnt bother, in the time it would take to revert to veg you could have a healthy plant thats better developed and not horribley stretched and stressed out. Start some new seeds asap if you want to grow.

i agree. this plant also might hermie on you. i did the same thing, i took in a friends plant that was stressed, nursed it back to health and had to pull balls off male flowers all during flowering. it was just a pain.

i wouldnt worry about it going hermie. if you revert it to veg and then re-flower later it will not cause it to hermie.

Once a leaf grows from an internode the plant is done with that part of the plant, the new growth will come from a new node.

It seems I was late to this thread, you have figured that part out by now, lolz.
