k, well.. it def. sounds like a good way to germinate I suppose.
However, its not exactly the "best" way to germinate your beans.
There really isn't any "best" way to germinate. There are the correct ways.. and incorrect ways of doing it.
Personally, I like the cloth towel method. I lay out a cotton wash cloth flat on my table; lay seeds on the wash cloth (usually the middle); fold the wash cloth, while making sure the seeds don't fall out; once the towel is folded.. I then dunk the wash cloth into a glass of water; then gently and very carefully "wring" out any excess moisture from the towel to where the towel is wet.. but not soaked.
That's my personal method.. its never failed me yet.
Also.. sometimes if you can't get your beans to crack open.. use a heating pad (I also do this if I run into a stubborn seed) but make sure you have the heating pad on the lowest setting (to prevent burning/killing the embryo). Just enough warmth/heat to aid in getting the seed to pop open.
See.. every cannabis seed has a very very small embryo inside the middle of the shell of the seed. This embryo actually holds and traps moisture inside of itself. Therefore.. this is the reason why there are guidelines as to what tempatures are required for proper germination. The seed actually uses the warmth/heat.. in order to make its self pop open.
Once the inside of the seed (the embryo) reaches a certain tempature... the moisture inside the embryo starts to expand. As the pressure builds and builds.. it wants to escape. Well, in order for it to escape.. it makes the seed crack open/pop open... and now you have a germinated seed.
Knowledge is power..
I've shared my knowledge here.. in hopes that someone has learned something new from my knowledge. All I can do is hope..
peace everyone.
